3KB's,, people from the cities pay good money to live like that for a vacation.
We live far enough from town to be comfortable
Lines of cars from Illinois drive past us to
get "up nort" . and here we are , ''up nort'' already with no driving involved.
and we don't have to share our campground with anybody..
it cooled down nicely here. only after getting used to the high temps, this cool down feels cold..
some low lying areas had frost warnings.

Got socks on today...even closed down a few windows, chilly wind blowing.

way back in 1966, we rented a country apartment in a low lying area called
(Nine Mile Swamp)
I had a large patch of potatoes growing. On Aug 8, we got frost. It damaged the plants, but did not kill them. the next night we got another frost and that was the end of my potato patch..
Today I am going to wear a long sleeved shirt. maybe socks, too..

I've been describing this as "like camping, but with my own bed."

If possible, plywood floor with linoleum on it for easy cleaning. Deep Litter method works!!
Consider poop trays under your roosting bars. They work too!
As mentioned earlier, VENTILATION!!!!! More than you think.

I am remodeling an old garden shed to be half coop, half shed. This will be my first coop and first chickens btw. Th guy helping me wants to do a floating cement floor ovr the top of the existing plywood. Is this a good idea? Thanks for any help in advance.

I would seriously question his skills before going any further.
@Maglette would be best to start a new thread here with pics of the shed, inside and out, and your plans to convert to coop.

That's a really weird idea that violates a lot of norms for building anything.

I'm having a tropical storm. Just the outer rain bands, but enough to make things difficult when you're living in a cabin with a port-a-john for a bathroom and a grill to cook on. (Pot roast is in the crockpot).

I got more work done on the playhouse today. Built the nest box for it and another window frame. So that leaves one side to build window frame for.
