Thinking of you Jim. Take the pain pills before the pain gets bad. Stay ahead of it.
Truer words were never spoken.
Today I put up some fencing in the Turkey Town area.
I love that name. Please tell me there's a sign.

Finally got started moving and managing the compost bins and clearing out the spent raised beds. If all eggs are laid today by lunch (we should have 7 eggs from 10 pullets today), I'm thinking of letting the girls wander the yard and play in the compost. They come to me like kids to Santa Claus so I'm pretty sure I can get them to go back to the run when I need them to. I'm so excited about it that it kept me up last night planning.

Actually I do plan on a sign for each area, as well as all the trails on our 13 acres. I do have a sign at the fishing hole and the Pig Nic area. Maybe this winter. Right now I am trying really hard to get ready for winter.
I did get another 2 wagons of litter out of the one side of the Polish duplex. Still not done, and I have plans to paint inside and replace perches. Maybe put in another window.
. Also, I put fencing and a gate across Guinea Lane, as a start to fencing in Chicken Central. I am worried the goats might get in there and eat too much chicken feed. Hubby thinks I shouldn't bother, but it might also help keep chickens from wandering off.
I painted another half sheet of plywood, and some wood to make a people gate for the fence.
Jim, our thoughts are with you.

Almost panicked today because I thought for a minute it was Friday! So much to be done before the swap.
I did start clearing brush off the site for the new coop. And old sticks and logs that went on the burn pile . The goats ate and leaves off the brush that were edible. I painted some boards and the frame for a gate. Of course, although it wasn't supposed to rain it did. I was running around trying to cover stuff or put it in the garage.
I am thinking possibly my son and his kids might help me build the coop! It would be great to have help.
Really starting to worry about Jim.

Nothing from Jim yet?

Planted a bunch of fall and winter veg in the garden, moved about 1/4 of the finished compost into the raised beds for those crops. The pullets are regularly giving us 6 or 7 eggs a day now, but the speckled sussex haven't laid yet.

Today I went to a chicken swap. Sold all the chickens off heat except one rooster. Sold some of the chicks. I bought one adorable Splash frizzle bantam polish chick. So cute!
Tonight I may have to unload the truck because I may need to go pick up a trampoline frame I can get for free, but it has to be picked up early tomorrow.
Sure looking forward to hearing from Jim.
