I just found out that a fairly new restaurant
that took over the old Perkins building , closed.
it was open for only ten months. the food and
service were always good. I suspect lack of
workers, or the rent was too high. it is a
shame..
Cappy, are those black walnut ? If you burn them,
the ashes are not good for your plants.
I am supposed to go to the headache Dr today.
the road conditions will determine if we go.
It is still too dark out to see if it is freezing rain.

we drove the ten miles on iffey roads to get to
the Dr. She was not in today. nice of them to
let us know..
it rained all day. then after we got home,
our electricity went out for over an hour.
it was really dark without any light shining.
no wonder the pioneers went to bed early..
we are supposed to get six to eight inches of
the white slippery stuff tonight..

There are cherry and black walnut, and some mystery trees. But our neighbors want to have some milled into boards. Of course, we will get some boards out of it.

I have been working on cleaning out the goat house. Taking the manure and bedding, to cover the wheat i am planting after digging up the soil and taking out the biggest rocks. Then i sort out the gravel sized ones and put them in the eroded areas on the road. Not a county road, so they don't maintain it.
Tonight i swept out the studio, we will start flooring on Friday i expect.

Cappy, I like the way your neighbor thinks. I don't like
to see good logs chunked up for fire wood if lumber can
be made from them.
I used to have a guy who would saw logs as short as
three feet long . Alas he also got old as the years went by.
All of my go to sawyers are eighty plus yrs old ,, or dead..
We have about five inches of snow. our power went
out for the second time at four AM until eight AM. the
house is well insulated so it didn't get too cold. the quilt
on the bed felt mighty good. my biggest concern was how
was I going to make a cuppa coffee this morning.
the trees are all snow covered. very pretty.
I will be going out and try to plow with Ollie. I hope there
is not too much ice under the snow.
you all be careful walking on the slippery ground.

Just hit 32° here, only been slippery because it keeps raining. Frankly tired of that.
Went to Danville today, ceramic class and Christmas shopping. Had to take the long way home, VDOT guys have trees all over the road. I rarely take that route home because i am wary of deer on back roads. I saw 8 deer on the way home, one rabbit, and the ghost of a raccoon. It was foggy in patches, but not where i saw that ghost. Right on the side of the road, and as i drove up to the area, it disappeared. Very weird.
