Hemp/Cannabis products safe for chickens?

I let my geriatric rabbit eat the sugar leaves (no psychoactive ingredients on this portion of the plant), daily for years. It helped with his tooth malocclusions, allowing him to chew, and might have helped with pain. We also had him on his regular vet prescribed pain meds. He lived to be 9, 5 years longer than the vet thought he would!

That's amazing... have heard of this with cats and dogs as well.

I suspect you should be fine. This is an interesting idea for bedding and now I'm wondering if I can get free bedding from the greenhouse down the road... hmm... so to add to this, if the material is dry it would likely work better as bedding (not rot or mold) and they'd be less likely to eat much if any of it. I'd caution against it if you do not know how it was grown, as in, if you don't know if it's been exposed/treated with any chemicals/fertilizers, but if there are no chemicals than I doubt there would be problems.
My "neighbors with the greenhouse" (wink wink) don't use any pesticides besides Neem. They use a lot of chemical fertilizers though, and they frequently burn the crap out of their plants. I don't know that chemical fertilizer would really impact health of the leaves for future chicken bedding though.

I use only chicken poop for garden fertilizing, and I do use it immediately, soaked in a bucket of water -- no problems whatsoever. I know it's a *hot* manure, but I've never burned plants, even seedlings.

You could probably set up a trade with your chicken manure for leaves. My neighbors are begging me for chicken poop, but I don't have enough to share.

I don't even know what the difference is between hemp and cannabis.

Is it the same thing?:oops:

I've only recently heard of CBD oil and thought it was made from hemp and I though that hemp has no "psyco" stuff in it.
They are the same plant C. Sativa they differ with the % of active components in them. Hemp almost don't have. This plant have a lot of uses, especially fibers. the word Canvas= the cloth used for painting, was originally made from Cannabis fibers, and the word Canvas reflects to that.

cbd is not quite the same as hemp oil.
my daughter is a dealer of hemp oil.
you can use it and still pass the urine test.
nothing toxic in it. it is a very beneficial oil.
I have just started using it..
I don't think chickens are very much interested in eating their bedding. they might scratch at it and eat a little of whatever they find, but the volume they eat is minimal.
I wonder how you can tell if a chicken is "high" ?
would you call it a laid back layer ??

Yes, the dried fan leaves are not a favorite food for chickens -- they ignore them for the most part. About as interesting as eating an oak leaf. Meh.

"Laid back layer" - lol.

Lol! Ok I get ya, i'm the neighbor that has random tomato plants everywhere. I had a pumpkin vine but something took the pumpkin. I don't run short of poop though, but my girls crap like buffalo.:)
I only have 9 chickens (so far!). My garden is big! I've got about 25 pumpkins and squash plants that are heavy feeders growing on my front lawn (I'm *that* neighbor!!!)

And you would not believe my neighbor's garden.

Let's just say, they grow a lot. A LOT.

I'm also weirdly stingy with my chicken poop -- like, I had to do all the coop cleaning! Why would I give this away for free? It would be a different story if they offered to pay me, or to come clean or do yard work, but they don't.

If mine were crapping like buffaloes, I guess I could part with some..... lol.
