Hemp/Cannabis products safe for chickens?

We are using the stuff as organically labelled bedding for Cornish x and Speckled Sussex chicks in brooders for at least 4 weeks. Unfortunately we are not comparing it to alternatives.

are you saying that you have used only hemp for over 45 years ?

I state 4 weeks, pushing 5 weeks for the Sussex in two brooders with approximately 15 chicks / juveniles each. We are at 14 days for the Cornish with about 12 chicks per each of 12 brooders. The bedding is being swapped out every second day for the Cornish and we may step up to daily before birds moved out to chicken tractors. I will check on the Sussex side to find out how often it is being replaced. We have what I consider to be a humidity and convection issue making so we have more moisture buildup than ideal.

I think it might be good to characterize things based on amount of hemp and feed as well as area covered by the hemp for starters.

I am correcting information on frequency of changes. We do it currently on Mondays and Thursdays and will soon be doing every second day. In my opinion it is damp already. Currently the Cornish X are processing about 2 lbs of feed per tub per day and the tubs are layered with about 1" of material so not a deep litter method.

This not a proper experiment in regards to the hemp. Total lay of brooders.

We purchased hemp by the pallet which helps provide volume discount when taking into account how it was shipped. It does not seem to fluff up as much as other types of bedding once removed from package.

I have put off commenting while I did some research.
hemp bedding I located was $2.oo/pound.
too rich for my blood.
as I mentioned earlier, my daughter has a cbd , cbg, hemp oil store.
Now she has a Wisconsin permit to grow hemp. She is growing some on my acreage.
is the hemp you bought, ground up ?
chopped ? dried ?
I might just run some through my lawn shredder ..

Hemp straw has to be shredded, it's too tough any other way!
Also hemp straw HAS to register below 0.03 to 0.0 THC in order to be legal. And unfortunately, no-one knows until it's harvested. If it's above that, the entire crop has to be destroyed.

It's been available in Europe for absolutely decades I used it mainly for my horses when I was in the UK. They grow it in France. When I bought my first couple of bales from Carolina Coops I was delighted to find it was the same brand (From France) and it was like I was back home. Been in the USA for 23 years and 2018 was the first year I'd seen it for sale over here.

We are nearing end of production cycle using the hemp above. There is concern the hemp does not handle moisture as well as some of the alternatives. That needs to be tested with a side by side trial that hopefully will start shortly. The THC concerns are issues for hemp producer and processor.

I don't understand 'refuse wheelie bin'. what does it mean in old man language?:old
If it means you are tossing it away, then that is a huge mistake..
incorporate the poop into the soil.
use it on the above ground plants like beans, tomatoes, peppers, etc.. wait until next year to plant the onions , carrots , beets etc.
by then it will be well composted..

A refuse wheelie bin is the same as the same green trash cans on wheels we have over here in the States. Lol
I was born and spent my first 44 years in the UK. And that is the common description.
