hen and rooster, help

The hen and roo is healing nicely, but the hen has little white bugs that almost look like lice, but ik isn't, crawling all over her wound. Her wounds aren't infected and is kind of got a soft scab over it and a hard scab building in other places. Does she have mites? How do I treat this?

sounds like lice eggs? ivermectin treats mites just a very small half a pea size on some food for her. i wouldnt use anything on her because of the wounds. treat again in a month

If she has bugs then the whole flock has bugs. You are going to need to treat everyone, clean out the coop, treat the coop, and then do it all again in 14 days. What do you normally use to treat bug infestations? I like Eprinex topical, myself. There is no withdrawal for eggs, so you don't have to discard eggs. It also worms the birds at the same time. It's a little pricey, but worth it. You can also use it on your wounded hen because you can simply apply it where her skin is intact.

so eprenix treats for mice, lice, and worms without having to worry about egg withdrawal? I can continue to eat the eggs while on treatment?

Yup, that's the stuff. Best stuff on the market. You only use a tiny bit on each bird. I believe it is 1/2 ml per standard sized chicken. I'd have to double check that, though.

I was right 1/2 ml for standard. 1/4 ml for bantams.

ok, I'd have to order it. Now I can give it to them and collect eggs same day and day after. I dont have to wait while on the meds? If I give you my breed and size, couldnyou give me the amount I need to put on each chicken? Also do I just put it on the back of the neck or run it down the spine or how do I do it?
