Hen cant walk

Did you check her crop for impaction? Wobbly gait is one of the feature of crop impaction. Check the bird in the AM to see if the crop still feels full! Wood shaving can cause impaction. Good luck with your bird!!

I'm glad the lice fell off..they give me the willies :) Remember, you need to retreat in 10 days to get rid of the new hatchlings!

I am thinking of trying the ivermectin pour on. Any suggestions?
Today she is about the same as last night. She will take a couple of steps. She is obsessed with eating shavings! Strange.

Well my girl is doing much better. She is walking around the crate, very alert. I will give her another day or two then move the crate back out to the coop. She still wont eat her feed. Just wants scrambled eggs!

Update: Hen walks fine, eats fine, legs pale and cool to the touch, slowly - very slowly gaining strength. But has not gained any weight back - skin and bones. Sometimes looks ok but sometimes stands all puffed up. Will she ever fully recuperate? Should I have her euthanized?

We did worm all in the spring but it is worth a try. I just feel so bad for her. I have an appointment with another one with respiratory infection to get a culture. Will bring in her poop then. One issue after another.

Hi everybody. The hen we talked about is still having problems. We need your help. I recently had her to the vet and asked for a b12 shot. He was unable to give it due to the fact she is literally skin and bones. She has been eating very well until yesterday, when she lost interest even in the scrambled eggs she usually goes crazy for. Today tried chopped spinach and egg - no interest. She then drooled water on my hand and it had a very sour smell. Her crop is small and soft. Sour crop? I gave 1 tbs ADV in 1 quart of water and plan on picking up yogurt in am. She is otherwise looking ok, no discharge from eyes or nose, alert and active, as much as you can be confined to a cage. She has had pure watery poops, thought from the heat but weather has cooled and I wonder about that. She was wormed, treated for coccidia andthis lice and also wormed with wazine. Does it sound like sour crop? Any suggestions?
