Hi! I am new with raising hens and one of my hens has been attempting to crow during the day!!!! I don't think my neighbors appreciate it. My township doesn't allow roosters and people will definitely tell if they think I have one!!! I know for sure she is a girl and I can't get rid of her! Does anyone know how to stop her from crowing during the day?

Hello There,

I am pretty sure you have a rooster. But just in case, may I see a photo? Please don't go out of your way for one... But it would help a bit.

I would suggest selling/giving away to a good home. If you want him to go to a good family, selling might be a better choice. :)

There are no-crow collars you can use. I don't use them, some of my friends do though.
Good luck, God bless! I hope I helped a bit.

Sincerely,

I've heard of hens crowing, Id love to see it.

Just a thought... Does the rules specifically state "No roosters?" Or "No crowing?"

If it states "no roosters," then you should be fine because she's a hen, not a rooster, right? ‍♀️

They typically say "no roosters", that's what mine says anyway, I can have up to 10 birds as long as they are completely contained and no roosters.

The problem with that is, that "everyone" knows that roosters crow and hens do not, so even if it is a crowing hen they are likely to make them get rid of her because they would not believe it is a hen.

I agree, I don't understand why roosters aren't allowed in smaller neighborhoods... And that hens are. My hens can be extremely loud as all get out! Sometimes louder than my rooster.
