Hen had her butt plucked.

We were away for about a month and upon our return we found that our Jersey Giant hen Olive had quite a few feathers missing from her rump.
Is there a salve that is recommended to help assuage the redness, and dissuade other chickens from packing at her?
This is a new behavior that we think was brought about by our absence and resulting boredom in the coop. I have not witnessed any feather plucking since we got back, so hopefully it has stopped.

Put some Nu-Stock on her rump. It will heal her rump and deter picking. Shake the tube well and wear disposable gloves when applying it. It'll be in the equine section at a feed store.
