Hen has lost her voice and has hoarse chirps

Yep. Unless you’re really worried, she could just be growing. Since the others attacked her, I would watch her, but it could just be the pecking orders being worked out
Perhaps. The rooster had been away from his flock for 3 days straight since I took him to another house.

How is she now? My 3mo faverolles pullet started doing that a few weeks ago-figured it was just how she sounds? But just today my polish started doing the same thing and it’s not her normal voice. No other symptoms-just sounding horse.
we’ve been having crazy weather and they have been out in the rain and do scratch in leaf piles. My 3yr old veteran hens and my young roo seem fine...

Huh. Maybe I’m overreacting but I’m certain she sounded different. Maybe she”s going through a puberty stage? Do chickens go through vocal changes?
Yes they do my pullets use to sound high pitch until she gotten a little older she started to have cracks on her vocal and she changed into your pullet sound.

Can you give an update? I'm FREAKING out because this is happening to my favorite (I know I'm not supposed to have favorites but she's the only one who will willingly get up next to me and let me pet or hold her). She sounds super hoarse this morning (not loud and higher pitched than usual). She is eating, she's drinking, she jumped up next to me. She's still not laying normally, so I can't use that as an indicator, but her comb and wattles are vibrant red.

How old is she? For my hen, it was kind of just a puberty thing. Her voice was just changing.

Mine turned out to be a breed characteristic...her new chain-smoking voice (from higher baby chirps) is just how her breed sounds and she grew into that lovely feature once she became a pullet. Idk if that helps you but that was what the voice change turned out to be for Josephine. Faverolles, thank god she’s cute! I also have a Maran who bays like a dying seal. That’s just Blue, nothing wrong just an unfortunate voice.
Now we are in the miserable south that has had a wet moldy Indian summer. my cats have terrible allergies causing them to wheeze...so I’ve been using oxine ah as a precaution. Extra sanitation is never a bad thing for all the outdoor critters.

Mine went through their goose sounding stage a few months ago. Her and one of the others sound high pitched and quiet, but totally fine otherwise since last Thursday. Here’s a pic of them relaxing after their “bath” Sunday. She was trilling contentedly, and I wouldn’t think she’d be trilling if she didn’t feel well. I went overboard cleaning out the run of straw and putting in better deep litter material and cleaning the coop Saturday. My husband doesn’t understand my deep attachment to them, but has stopped making fun of me in the meantime.

Yep. Can never be too sanitary. As for the clucks for chickens, mine was a breed thing too. But she was my first Dutch Bantam so I didn't know any better.
