She was laying regular shaped eggs, then started laying football shaped eggs - long and narrow like a football, and then one regular egg, and now no eggs for 2 weeks. She doesn't act sick, eats and drinks just fine, and walks around OK. I'm just wondering what could be wrong?

Is she molting? Also as you can see from many other posts on here that this time of year with the shorter days and cooler temps just naturally makes most breeds slow down. I'm lucky if I get 2 eggs a day right now.

She's not molting, lays in the nest but produces nothing.
Football shaped eggs amazed me.

She was free ranged and laid an egg a day until our rooster got killed by a hawk and after that she no longer free ranges. Laid some eggs while cooped in the run, but now nothing.

I don't think there is anything to worry about, just keep an eye on her...I get those football eggs from my brahmas every once in awhile...sometimes we call them torpedos

...not all hens lay perfectly round eggs all the time.....

Thanks just never saw the football shape before. NFL eggs in time for the season.
