Yesterday I noticed my EE Hen was a bit thin. She has diarrhea, but is acting normal, eating, drinking, making noise, being active, not isolating herself. This makes me think it is worms or mites, which my australorp probably has worms. I sprayed premtherin under her wings and around her vent today, in a couple days I will give her ivermectin if she has worms. Should I worry more, or calm down about it? I am prone to getting anxious about chicken ailments, because 4 weeks ago my silkie pullet was extremely skinny and ultimately died due to stomach cancer. The other chickens are not skinny. Thoughts please!

I'm sorry your hen is not doing well?

Please get photos of the poop.

Having loose poop one time is not cause for too much concern. You report she's acting normal, is active, etc. If she were sick, she would not be doing all these things.

Getting a fecal float through your vet is the best way to know if you need to deworm your flock. Ivermectin is not the best choice for deworming. Fenbendazole (Safeguard) or Albendazole (Valbazen) are both more effective and will treat most worms that poultry can have.

It can be upsetting to lose one, I'm sorry that your pullet died. I've never heard of a chicken having stomach cancer, did you have this diagnosed through your state lab through necropsy/testing?
