Hen Losing Weight

I suspect that the mucus is not from the dying process starting, thank God, but maybe a bacterial or fungal infection. Refresh my memory... Did you worm her with Valbazen or Safeguard?

I feel very relieved that it may not be the dying process. I can tell she's at least gaining a small amount of strength. She sure fights me when I try to get fluids in her :)

Today would be day 5. I didn't get a chance to give it to her yet, but in a few hours I'll get my hands on her :)

It will be interesting to see what the vet says. It's good your giving her good and water....it's really helping her out.

I'll be honest, the idea of tube feeding really freaked me out. I would read that line and go "Nope!" Now that I actually took the time to read the thread and watch the videos, and get over how uncomfortable I thought it would be I'm glad I'm doing it. I actually wish I would have gotten over the idea in the past and tried it with other sick ones. I don't think she would have made it through the weekend without it.

No she certainly wouldn't have made it. When I tube, I always look on the right side when I slide the tube down. If I see it buldge out I feel a lot better in knowing I'm down the correct tube. And the more they feel batter the more they won't like it lol. Your doing well. :thumbsup

You both have mastered tubing and were able to keep your birds from dying by doing it. :D Now think about all those people that will be too afraid to tube and instead will give water a drop at a time just because they don't realize how easy it is and how much a bird actually needs. Glad both of you were brave enough to try!
