I have a small flock of 4 hens. I noticed a couple days ago that my red had a couple toes that looked smaller than usual. I assumed something had tried to get her from under the coop & figured she’d be ok..Today I went out & found her, along with another hen both dead. Of the two left, another hen also has one toe shorter. I don’t see any signs of animal attacks or leg mites. We live in FL so there is no frostbite concerns either. I’m worried that my other two are going to get worse and pass away.. I have no clue what I’m dealing with here & cant find anything that explains this online. Has anyone found the answer?
Thank you

The two that were found dead was their any other signs of trama other then the toes? Infection usually takes time to set in to kill a hen that just had a toe bitten off.
How do they roost? Can rats get to their feet while roosting?
