Hi all,

I am new to the chicken world and received 4 hens (or thought to be hens :) from a good friend of ours for fresh eggs. I do live in a busy suburb that does not allow roosters. the hens are black stars, they are 14 weeks old and not laying yet. I did notice a few different color tail feathers on the two black hens no signs of any spurs yet which made me nervious. I am hoping they are hens not roosters. I have attached a few photos so hopefully someone can clarify that they are hens. I do know that black star hens sometimes get different colored feathers. However, if they are hens I don't know what I should do with them as our friend doesn't have room for another roo. Please help

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Yes, it does look like you have some roos there. They sure are pretty! Definitely stop by the link that Mountain Peeps has left for you. You can also chat in your state thread with your chicken neighbors in hopes someone nearby will take them. Scroll thru this link to find your state thread...https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you

So sorry you have to rehome them. They are so pretty.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! X4, looks like you have three roosters and one hen, you've gotten some good links above and hope you are able to rehome the roos.

Agreed - you were mislead as to what you were getting as those are roosters, and not even "black star" (black sex link) roosters, to boot.
