I am confused with my Ameraucana Barred Rock cross. It has the dark stripes down the front of the legs but some longer feathers around the neck and butt, but I can't tell if they are rounded or not. I have another just like it that is lighter coloured with no black stripes down the legs and a larger redder comb and it has crowed for sure. It is 3 months old and I'm hoping its a hen but I'm just not sure!

Those tail feathers look rather rooish.

Being not as good at this as others.....nor knowing the body part names of all the chickens.....I call the rooster feathers that are around your chickens neck the 'skinny feathers'. Roosters have those skinney feathers! Then they have them again right in front of their tail feathers....THAT is how I can figure it out.

And it looks like a rooster to me!
