I was fooled by that little chestnut once too, and then I mis-sexed half of my chicks. A bit irritating to me.

The Barred Rock is not a Barred Rock, it is a Dominique, because of the rose comb. They are nice birds, hopefully you weren't hoping for a BR though because that is what they aren't.

Not a Buff Orpington at all. I agree it's a mix of anything. All my buffs have been buff (yellow)

also looking at the legs of the "buff" or gold sex link you can tell that its not a buff at least in the pics they look yellowish, and buffs are white feet, legs. just another tip coming in late also i think the lighter one is a rooster
