This is my first year keeping chickens. So at first I was told that she was supposed to be an eater egger, but I actually think he/she is a Dominique breed because of the comb- but please correct me if im wrong. Recently the chicken started making rooster like noises ( my four chickens are about 3 1/2 months now). My town only allows hens. I read that sometimes the dominant chicken- which he/she is (also named Boss) can take on the roll of the rooster and crow as well. This is what I am hoping for! If anyone has an idea please let me know. They are currently in the garage while my hubby finishes the coop. Every morning i open the garage and one by one move them to a chicken tractor i built. If i take to long or if he/she is the last or first one then the he/she makes the call. That is usually the only time i have heard it, and its not everyday. I tried to compare to other roosters but the tail and other feathers are short- does that take longer to grow in? If it is a rooster I guess we will have some BBQ soon haha.
