Hen with swollen wattles and neck!

Yes we do! We have yellow jackets, scorpions, noseeums, monster mosquitos, any biting fly you can think of...its ridiculous! And I do have children's benedryl too so I will try that! Thank you!

The swelling can close off the trachea causing her to suffocate. Consider using the childrens benadryl first. Then wait 24 hours before giving antibiotics.

Well she seems to be doing alright today. She is still swollen but not as bad as last night and she is acting normal otherwise. I think it was just from a sting or bite of some kind but I'll still keep an eye on her for any other symptoms...

Good. It may help to supplement water with vitamin-electrolyte-probiotic powder for a day or two.

Aw man, I was just at the feed store and I picked that up and then changed my mind! Is there anything I could make at home? I have yogurt so that could cover the probiotic part...

Yogurt isn't all it is cracked up to be, and doesn't have the profile of lactic acid bacteria, or the absorption rate something like Probios dispersible powder does. Sugars or corn syrup used to sweeten yogurts are bad for the digestive tract as well. A good poultry vitamin-electrolyte and 1 tsp of Probios powder in waterers a couple days a week is helpful. I do it regularly. Agrilabs makes one soluble powder called Vitamins, Electrolytes "Plus". It has everything in it.
