hens are getting fat/fuzzy butt (pic heavy)

i think that is supposed to be a sign of getting ready to lay

but they don't seem to have the big combs/waddles that other peoples buff orpingtons have

they found got a lot of worms and beetles from my wife's jasmine vines

How old are they? When their combs and wattles turn red and they do the "laying dance", then get ready for eggs!

18 weeks old ... their combs/waddles are red during the day --- but later in the afternoon/early evening they go back to being pink

no squatting or practicing the egg song yet
