Hens Crop Not Empting at Night Please help

Most times it's not to bad for the hens. I lost two of my old hens November last year, she was almost 9 yrs old and my other one i lost this Jan was turning 10 yrs old. She was one of my first. .

I usually use straw, I had gotten these chickens as ready to lay. Starting out fresh, cleaned the coop, and was keeping them in until the lime setteld on the ground for a month before letting them out. I put an old blanket on the floor for now until she recovers. It feels cold with the cement floor.

She didn't empty her crop very well over night. Very sour smell. I put baking soda to the addition to the nystatin cream and antibioics. It's been 48 hrs hours since I had to make her vomit. She is still pooping small normal poops, and now the odd messy blobs. She is still fluffy. She's eating and still drinking. She has the odd sneezing.

is the nystatin cream? i had liquid. i gave 4.5ml every twelve hours but if its cream woul be different.

It's cream. I've been giving her 3ml morning and again at night.

i recon that seems about right then. how you getting it in?does she eat it?

I give it to her with a needle without needle siringe without the needle. I put it to the back of her throat to give it to her. I just got it from the pharmacy and he told me I shouldn't be given it to her. He didn't want to sell it to me.

i had that with my chemist when i wanted canesten he asked why i wanted so many tablets and suggested i see my gp!! when i said it was for my chicken he said he couldnt sell it to me. so i said i changed my mind and it was really for me and he sold it!! all nonsense! the vet later said she coulnt say it was ok to give to a chicken but as i was leaving said "carry on with the canesten" !! guess they have rules and have to be careful.

How much did you give her? Is it over the counter?

canesten came as peseries i got 3tabs i cut each tablet into 3 pieces gave one piece morning and one evening til all gone. i crushed the pieces and mixed with little water and syringed it to corner of beak. dont empty crop after thou leave over night at least. empty before you give it. it frothes and i had awful experience emptying a few hours sfter giving that . it all foamed out her nose and everything!
