Casportpony: I cant order it here in Canada. It says for US only. Thanks for trying to help.

Yesterday morning was exciting with empty crop, however, that came to an end as the day progressed. I took her of the antibiotics and the nystatin cream. My other hens has diarrhea. It's taking a tole on them. My husband talked to a local vet on the phone and said no to the cream and the antibiotics. He feels the cure is the baking soda. He's a farm vet. He said we could give her the yogurt if we feel we need to in place of antibiotics. So I did. She kept getting buldgier as the day progressed to a point it was getting uncomfortable. I question the yogurt.

I decided to vomit her, it was thick, not mucussy, almost like she wasn't getting enough water, I think I almost killed her. It was hard to come out. A bit of aspiration. So she went to bed with the empty crop, this morning she had a small mushy feeling. Her vomit almost smelled like Vinegar. Today, I'm just doing baking soda with water. Let her drink first then food. I checked on her and its small tinny bulge, tight. Put the food up. See how today goes. She is all moving her neck around again.

Before giving any meds, I would want to know what I was dealing with. Going forward, I would have a vet look at a sample under the scope to check for yeast. As many women know all to well, yeast infections often go hand-in-hand antibiotics.

I'm not a Dr., but if it is yeast, I don't think it will go away without medication.

FWIW, my avian vet told me to give raw, unfiltered ACV (with Mother) while giving antibiotics. If you search on the subject, you'll find lots of info on the subject. I add 1 teaspoon/5ml per quart/liter.

I believe simple is the way to go. I've read so many conflicting information on apple cider for sour crop. I did try that initially. I'm going to give her a few days with just baking soda and water. She is so bright today, seems more like herself. I have been feeding and then take it away and keep checking her crop. It's better than yesterday. I appreciate any information that is given. :)

I probably should have said that my only "crop won't empty" experience was in a hen that had an abdominal obstruction. I was finally able to get her crop to empty by tube feeding her fluids and baby bird food mixed with fluids, but the mass is what killed her in the end.

Word of caution... As you already know, aspiration is a very real risk when vomiting a bird. Some people have been known to use mineral oil to help move stuff through, but I believe that any amount of aspirated oil causes a type of aspiration pneumonia from which there is no recovery.
