Hens or roosters???

woohoo!! thanks for the info!

I have been hoping they would lay soon...we got them when they were two weeks old around middle May. I thought it may still be a while. We have been putting straw in their boxes but they keep pulling it out into the floor of the coop!! I was telling my husband I am worried they will start laying on the floor of the coop where they keep moving the straw! Looking forward to that first egg!

I only say BSL because that is what the lady told me at the place I got them. I wanted all one breed but she only had 3 so I just got a couple of others as well. She said all these particular breeds were good layers..I hope she wasnt just saying that! LOL

I thought they looked like this one...which I found on a "sexlink" website and thats why I figured the lady had told me the correct info.

** here is my other, both EE

Look for eggs at around 18-20 weeks, then switch to Layer Feed, or Flock Raiser, and add a feeder of Oyster Shell on the side....!

speaking of oyster shells....d they have to have them if they get to run around outside? My mom swears they dont need them and never gives them to them...but i am worried if i dont they may ruin their eggs!

They need it for stronger shells....free ranging won't give that to them...you can also grind up old egg shells and feed that back to them.

oh my he is beautiful too!! i love the way they look, they are so beautiful! But I didnt want any because I dont like when the rooster is always mounting them and it ruins the hen's feathers. They always seem to be missing big hunks of feathers...on the other hand it would be nice to have chicks whenever!! I go back and forth with it!

oh ok...i didnt realize it would actually help the strength of the shells as well. I thought it was only to keep them from pecking their own eggs and for digestion.
