When I asked the breed of mine here, I got about 50/50 in replies for both D'uccle and Booted Bantam. Tried to research them. Settled on calling her a Booted. How would one tell the difference? Are there specific markers for each to differentiate them for sure??
it looks like it could be two different names for the same thing
Just found this...
It does! I don't know why I never asked the specifics before! My Boots is bigger than her friend "nugget" who is an OEGB silver duckwing bantam. But the other characteristics are clearly D'uccle now that I know! She is about 16 weeks with NO comb or wattles and when she stands full pretty she has a VERY pronounce V shape. Everyone loves her as she is so pretty and her stance is very regal looking. Incredibly skittish and feisty, but quite a looker!I show and raise D’Uccles and wanted to let you know
Actually the booted bantam and D’Uccle and separate breeds even though the weight in the two breeds is the same always keep in mind that they are 2 different breeds and have major differences from each other.
Most people think they are the same thing.
Booted bantams have no beard, and large wattles. They are taller than a D’Uccle, and they have a “U” shape between the head/neck and tail.
D’Uccles are shorter, have a broad breast, and they have a bull neck.
Also they have very small wattles to none at all. And they have a “V” shape between the head/neck and tail.
I hope that helps!
No worries. You just added confirmation from a breeder standpoint! Perfect!Oh! I didn’t even see you post that sorry!
