Here Goes Hatch One! 11 Chickys in the Brooder & 3 eggs left -Pics

That's great. Sounds like a successful hatch will soon arrive. I can hardly wait until I can order some eggs and begin my hatch.

What kind of bator are you using? Manufactured or one you made yourself?
I'm thinking about making one due to the prices of the manufactured ones... but I've never done anything like this so I'm wondering if it might be best if I went ahead and spent the money on and investment.

These candled great

I could see the veining from day 5 on up. I used a little LED light that my DH paid a buck for at a dollar store. Then it burned out 3 of it's 6 little lights and I can't really see in anymore. These eggs are a beautiful light sky blue color.

Hehe but those little pinkish/green mutt eggs candle beautifully even with my burned out bulbs! I've a feeling that I'm going to get all six little cute mutties.

It is the night of the seventeenth day, and knowing that I won't get a last chance to candle, I ran out to Walmart and bought a maglight and some pine bedding. My other led burned out 3 of it's little bulbs and I needed a new one anyway. I have candled all 18 of my eggs and am 90% sure that I saw everybody move. Some of them I think might have been sleeping but I watched and waited for at least a little twitch and I'm pretty sure everyone moved. The maglight worked great! Couldn't beat it for $7.88.

I've fenced in my bulb (didn't do that when I built the bator) and I've lined the bottom with shelf liner. I think I'm going to leave the eggs in the the egg flat to hatch. I've watered down my paper towel in the bowl and I won't open the bator again until I see some peepers. I have cork holes, so if I need to add water, I'll snake a tube through one of those.

Thanks everyone!

PattyJean: I'm sorry, I just now saw your question about the bator I'm using. I am using a homemade bator Miss Prissy Style....the Chic Chick Bator. The only difference is that I am not using the fan because I couldn't find one when I was looking. So it's a still air homemade bator. I'm actually quite impressed with myself for pulling this off.

I came home for lunch today and heard peeping coming from the bator. I knew then that this hatch was beginning to start. After going out for dinner tonight, the first thing I did was run to the bator to listen for more peeps and one of my EE eggs has a small pip!
