I'd MUCH rather have hens hatch eggs, but you can't always depend on having a broody hen (or how *nice* a hen will be to hatchlings).
The science (or sometimes, mystery) of artificially incubating eggs is a thrill.
I don't think I've ever told you, but I appreciate the time you take to explain the intricacies of hatching eggs.
I appreciate someone who is good at xplaining details and takes the time to do it.
Hope you get over your migraines....they are horrible! I get them alot when a front moves in. Those migraine headache meds dont help too much when you are so hang over with sleep LOL.
Hope the rest of the chicks pop out for you! Go, go, go chicklets!
My God! you are so lucky! Its so exciting to see a newborn chick hatch. I saw it at the local feed store, they were so cute, until one of them bit/pecked me, it was violent.
Thank you, Lisa. How nice of you to say so! I try to help as much as I can because so many helped me a couple of years back when I was new to all this myself. There's nothing I can tell you, though, since you're pretty good at this hatching stuff yourself.
I know what you mean about those broodies! I hope that I'll have another hen I can depend on to be as wonderful a mother as my Sunny has been because it was such a joy watching her raise those Barred Rock babies she hatched this past Mother's Day.
My headache isn't too awful at the moment so Im hoping while it's in this lull, another baby will pip for me. It's hard to stay awake with all these migraine meds in my system, but I love to watch them hatch!
I woke at 4 a.m. to all four eggs pipped. Migraine gone for the moment, thank goodness.
AND, the first Amerauana baby from my Silver just hatched! She beat out the Barred Rock that pipped yesterday. By the end of the day, I bet I'll have four new babies in the brooder.
