Well, then they should be girls since I keep saying "he", LOL. Still... that first Lexie baby sure has a big comb and big feet for a little girl. I'll have to wait till it dries to see the size and shape of the headspot, though. No matter, I may keep it, boy or girl. Hawkeye is so laid back, hardly any of my flock have fertile eggs except maybe three or four, including obviously Lexie. Might need that extra Barred Rock rooster after all.

aww speckled hen i really hope the others hatch and a soon as they do pics i hope you get all 'roo's'

Chicken_girl, thank you, that's very sweet of you to say. Lori, I had a lovely BR cockerel I hatched from my friend Kate's eggs; he was already mating the girls and I was going to keep him, then I changed my mind, partly because I began seeing more fertiles from other girls in my flock and I thought maybe Hawkeye was finally starting to make the rounds, but now, it's back to almost square one with him. Maybe his son will take up the slack with my Barred Rock girls and some of the others as well. Hawkeye is very calm and sweet and the best protector, but oversexed, he isn't. Now, if I had Suede in there, he'd be hitting on the six week old pullets! He's such a big blue perv, LOL! He's just too large for most of my flock.

I had an EE like that once. As far as he was concerned, anything female was fair game! At least we had lots of fertile eggs!! I'm glad he's gone, though. He was very hard on the girls.

Well, the Ameraucana and Barred Rock are in the brooder and the other Ameraucana and Barred Rock have made their pips larger so hopefully within a couple of hours, they'll be hatched. I thought the first little Ameraucana baby was blue because it has a light underside, but now it looks black with white underbelly, unusual since Scout was solid black from the start. I should know better to call blue/black this soon, LOL! And the Barred Rock looks like SON of Hawkeye-very, very silvery with huge headspot. However, considering his mother and all the confusion she caused as a cockerel-colored girl, I may have to withhold judgement for a few weeks.
