Here I Am Again... NOW, Day 21..All Four Have Hatched..DONE!

Oh, you guys are really making me miss my grandparents!! I think that they would love it that I have chickens. They were country people who grew oranges commercially, raised turkeys commercially, and always had a nice vegetable garden. I remember climbing the orange trees as a kid, picking oranges and eating them until my stomach ached!!! I also remember taking off on my grandpa's tractor and having him chase me down to get the darned thing stopped before I crashed into something - OOPS!!!!

It's so nice that you are close to your great-grandpa, Adam!!! It's amazing what we can learn from people who have been around a while - really helps us keep things in perspective!!!

I could not agree more! I think the lack of respect and admiration in our society today for the older members of our country is appalling. I have always been the type of person, even when I was a child, that has always been fascinated with the older generation and their past experiences.

It's growing, Henry! I can't tell if both are really growing the way they're supposed to be or not; its really weird-looking, but no bloodrings, so the eggsparament continues! Thanks for asking! We're on Day 5 now.

I can't believe your double-yolker is developing, Cyn!!! That is amazing! Too bad you can't get a good look inside there to see what's actually happening!!!

Adam, I totally agree! I don't think the way we live (separated from our families) is the way human beings are supposed to live. I think we are too caught up in our own lives to truly appreciate what living with several generations could do for all of us. But that's just my opinion - I don't think most people agree.

Oh, Cyn - I looked at your pics - the little ones are beautiful, especially that blue roosterette!!

Lori, I wish I could take a picture of the double yolker growing, but my camera doesn't have a low light setting and it never works! I've tried so many times to take candling pics and they just never really show anything. I always wondered what would happen if chick developed and the other yolk didn't or just wasn't fertile. If a blood ring formed in one yolk, you'd have to scrap the hatch because it would contaminate the other chick inside with it. But how would a chick inside a HUMONGOUS egg develop and would it be able to hatch normally if it was the only fertile one, if you get my drift.

Cyn I tried the double yoker a few years back and both started. Seems they got too crowded in there though and they both quit about day 15 if I remember right. At least that was when I was fairly sure they had quit, might have been sooner.
