Think my 2nd egg has died

nothing happening and it's gone quiet very quiet I will give it till 2moro to make my mined up of what to do thing is if my egg don't hatch chicky will be on its own

candle it kel , have a look it shouldnt hurt it if you are worried . just make sure you put it back how you found it

Why not sketch them out and then scan them into your computer and send them as an attachment in an email. Much faster that way. I built a simple run out of 2x4's for the base and then attached 10' pvc as arches. Laid the wire over the pvc and nailed it in. The run itself is 6' x 15' and I am able to move it all over the place.Very simple and easy to make. It is great as a grow out pen. My 7 week old chicks love it.

...you lost me when you got to the "scan" part. Ha. Ha. I bet I could find someone to do it for me though. I love the tractor! That would also be great to grow out a meatie group and not have to devote coop space for them... How does that PVC hold up to raccoon?

I've had a look carn't really see anything I can see the air cell but it don't look like anything is in there the chick seems to be still up the other end will only chick child be ok on its own until I have another go at incubating I carn't seem to find anyone with chicks now

Here is one of two brooders that I built this summer after being inspired by another post. I made them big enough so that I could also use them to separate out adults if ever needed (if they were empty).


This is a wonderful brooder and I think I need one of these

What is the yellow and black item in there? It looks like a chicken size step up stool,

Day 22 it was about 12 ish I think when I took chicky out but then heard it after 2 but I ain't been in that room that much so carn't really say after that

One barnyard mix is out, nothing at all from the others. I'm so stressed.

If this fails, next week, when the next batch is due to start hatching, I'm going back to how I did it my first time. No water.

i wouldnt write it off yet then , leave it in there and see what tomo brings as for more eggs someone will do them not to far away google chicken farms near by . i have sunnyside poultry etc im sure you can buy hatching eggs from them places because you can buy the chickens here is one ive found

Lucky you for the eggs. Mine won't start laying until Dec./ Jan if I am lucky. Post a picture of the green eggs. Would love to see them. I am in the process of ordering more RIR eggs that will hopefully go into the bator the first week of October. When I started my Marans and Silkie eggs I had 25 in the bator so I know how you feel. I really need to get busy and build the 4 more chicken tractors I need. Go here and look at this lady's tractors. They look fairly simple to make. WHen I contacted her she said they were 3' x 8' and she is using them for grow out and breeding pens. She has 1 Roo and 3 hens in one.
Tell your DH no more chickens after this but you would like to start some homegrown 'ham" to go with those green eggs.
