i wouldnt write it off yet then , leave it in there and see what tomo brings as for more eggs someone will do them not to far away google chicken farms near by . i have sunnyside poultry etc im sure you can buy hatching eggs from them places because you can buy the chickens
I love that link to the chicken tractors. I wonder a) how much they cost to make and b) how she moves them. I built one tractor, no run, and it was $200 in lumber. I put 4 wheels under it and we push it around the yard. Once the tractor is running again (the real tractor, which needs a water pump) I can pull it.

...you lost me when you got to the "scan" part. Ha. Ha. I bet I could find someone to do it for me though. I love the tractor! That would also be great to grow out a meatie group and not have to devote coop space for them... How does that PVC hold up to raccoon?
In the 11 years that I have lived in FL I have never had a raccoon problem so I couldn't tell you. I do know it holds up well to possums though. We also have 5 dogs so I think that keeps most of the predators away.
Looks like my last egg wont hatch I took the other chicks out of the incubator this morning and checked that egg... really didnt see anything moving but I will leave it or another day or so. Any way.. my hatch was interesting. I am used to hatching only standard colored Silkies and this time I did a paint to paint breeding.
the colors are interesting One paint, one black , one white with no black skin or black legs and beak and on ??? color. The questionable colored one seems to have a leg problem. Not spraddled or curled but is walking on the hock on the one leg ?? I cant feel where there is an injury... They are close enough together. It is getting around sort of hopping... hope it improves soon.

And we have our first hatch!! To those of you questioning the carton hatching method you can see this chick had no problem hatching. Note the humidity on my hygrometer (56%)the chick was born perfectly. Not too wet and not too dry. Looks like this is where I will be keeping the humidity for hatching from now on during lock down.
