HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

gosh one problem after another NOW Case of Spraddle Leg in Chick have taped legs up and when it stands still stands ok but its to busy rolling around trying to pull the tape off and them falls a sleep in all kinds of positions ?? what should i do ??

My first chick with spraddle leg did the same thing. In the beginning you have to literally do therapy with them. Balance them with your thumb and forefinger around their neck. Let them walk and use your hand/fingers as a balance so they get the idea of what works and what doesn't. It took 2 days of therapy a couple of times a day and I walked in on the third day and he was up and walking but using the wall of the brooder for support.

awwrr hope you save them , i have put wax on one of mine as well but dont think that will carry on

In the hatch thread I am in now 2 people waxed their eggs and they both hatched so maybe yours will be ok. Is the chick with spraddle leg a silkie? If so here is a good thread on what to use for feathered legs: SPRADDLE LEG/FEATHERED LEGS

its walking fine now apart from thinking it can run before walk , it came out the speedy within 2 hours of first pip and it running everywhere . its learning very quick though so im now not worried about it . how long do you think i will need to leave the band aid on ? weeks ?

Well...I got to wake up this morning to a rampid case of Cocci in my chicks [from the last two hatches, they're 7,6,and 4 weeks old appx.

Bloody diarrhea all over the coop.

I ran out for some sulmet but I think there's one EO that's worse than the others...I separated her into her own tub in the garage with a heat lamp and medicated food and water.

I should have seen this coming. :( I opened my 50lb bag of PURINA medicated chick feed and started using it on all the babies [inside and out] well, as I was pouring it into the airproof storage tubs, I noticed it was moving....It was FULL OF BUGS, and damp to the touch [even though it had been stored inside my house]

Too late, they had already been eating it for a couple days before I realized it was bad.

I wonder how many babies I'm going to lose.

I've got about $145 wrapped up in these babies right now [the English Orps showed up crushed the first time and I had to buy more eggs]

Yeah, I've been running around all day. There are 6 chicks in that coop and only 1 seems to be sick, she is the only one that had bloody poop and I separated her. She won't stand up or eat or drink; I put the Sulmet in ALL of the water bowls [hens, chicks and sick chicks] and switched everyone back over to the medicated feed.

The 5 still in the coop seem fine. Eating, drinking, pooping normal. Hopefully the Sulmet kills the cocci before it makes them sick.

Edit:
I just went to check on the separated chick, expecting her to be dead as she wouldn't stand up or eat or drink.

She was not only standing, but I saw her take a drink of water too!

Also, she pooped while I was watching, and it wasn't bloody...just white and runny. Anybody know if this is a good or bad sign?
