The lady I bought my Araucana eggs from had a pullet that had just started laying and 2 of the eggs she gave me were from this hen. She told me they were probably not fertile. Well one of them is hatching this weekend. I would take 1 or 2 of the eggs that your friends hen is laying on and candle them just to see.

Wow Brookhaven how many babies do you have now? 3 more hatches! You and i have been on a few hatches together the last month or 2.I have 15 i am keeping of my last 5 hatches.guuuck.I have a nice tidy # of 8 grown hens... now all these.I have sold 4 babies and 3 more will go soon.I dont expect more than 3 if that from this hatch.Did a bad job of humidity this time the whole hatch.Too high too low a lot.Its my last for this year.Next spring i will use my own eggs!Hopefully better hatches

There are just 6 .I think she is candling this week to see. Thanks Ill tell her what you said.

Since i asked about her pullet hatching eggs another question how old should th parents be to figure you will get viable healthy chicks?I mean to choose the time to breed them.

I'll be right behind you on Wednesday and then just as the stress goes down I will be going into lock down with my second set on Monday.

Yeah time to break out the tums and maybe some wine if you imbibe. This is the truth.. i started getting acid on my lockdowns i get so wound up.Should have a sign WARNING.. HATCHING CAN BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH!

Oh, I've got Catdance eggs incubating now! Lavenders and Paints. SOOOOOO excited about them. Also stuck two under by broody :)

That's exactly what I am incubating!!! We will have siblings!!! I'm very excited also.

Guys the humidity in the incubator is dropping fast. All the red plugs are in. I know "lockdown" means no opening and closing, but how do you maintain your humidity levels? It has been very dry this year and very low humidity though we have had high humidity the last couple of days. What should I do?

What do you have in there holding the water? I know some people use sponges & washcloths with good success...

So I asked DMRippy to send me more eggs. :) hubby doesn't know yet.

I had the one baby chick that I helped out on my hatch and it was sorta crippled. It couldn't bend it legs and kept it's head in the fetal position. Never could get off it's back and just made Circles on it's side. So I made a full body sling and we did PT(physical Therapy) all day yesterday. Hubby and I took turns. By evening that thing was so pooped. That is just slept in its Body cast. It was a mug with shoes on the bottom to keeps both feet planted and toilet tissue stuffed tight so it kept it's head up. Pretty much all it could do was bounce up and down. Well..today it is walking and running normal (except the head could be better.) It wasn't eating much from me. So I put it with mommy. I hope she shows him. ( I know it is a him now cause it was sex linked OE from DMRippy) I should not have helped it out. It layed in the bator drying off in the same position I pulled it out in and I think this is where I made the big mistake. It never got to strengthen it's muscles.

well, I have 3 more eggs just went into lock down. Good luck on all the babies in lock down. SOunds like a lot of silkies in this thread...
