HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

I'm scared to make those calculations....I did them at the first hatches with a 40% to 55% hatch rate....but with this last 3 hatches:oops: ....well, lets not go there. The incubation I have right now seems to be going better.:fl

Hahaha i am like you dont want togo there.Since i started my LOs with 2 that none hatched i think the Los i finally got to hatch in the next 2 hatches could probably been plated in gold for what it must average I paid soooo maybe i dont want to do those calculations.

What is the egg production like? I know they go broody quite a bit (or so I have heard)...
They lay small-medium size eggs that are light tan colored and mine lay one a day. They are good broody hens but when they start to get like that I kick them out of the coop and close the door for the entire day. They get their body cooled off and it will snap them out of it. You have to do it more than one day but really 3-4 days and it's over. It is just my mom, hubs, and I here so we don't require lots of eggs. It's actually perfect for us. I just love the way silkies look and feel. I love their sweet personalities and the eggs I got are from Show Breeder Catdance in WA, So her eggs traveled from WA to GA which is a long way and there was no breakage and out of 10 eggs only two were no shows. I am pleased as punch because everyone kept telling me I would only get 25% hatched out of shipped eggs. So mid-summer maybe these babies will be producing some awesome babies for me.

I was lucky to have traded some art work in trade for my eggs... lost most all of them in the first two hatches. I wont buy any more until I am getting good hatches from my own eggs.

So I couldn't get a good picture of the most current chick to hatch but it was a Lavender which I am uber excited about. I have one more egg now that needs to pip tonight or tomorrow. All in all I am feeling very blessed right now. Can't wait to see your babies pictures. Keep us posted folks and I hope all of you who are using incubators your heat is perfect along with your humidity.
