HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

Ok things are looking more optimistic now:

The smaller one on the left was the first to pip well over 24hrs ago. He poped out this evening after the big one on the right. He/she pipped and hatched within 1hr.

Still another 5 pipped and 1 not pipped.

Yeah Hotpoker your new babies look so adorable. Can't wait to see the others.

Our hatch is all done. Three cuckoo maran eggs, all duds.... Didn't do anything at all, just couldnt see anything well enough during candling to tell earlier. One silkie quitter, man was that gross.
One baby that just didn't hatch. It seemed to have absorbed most if not all of the yolk, didn't appear to have any problems, and I would guess it pipped internally since I didn't have to peel back the sac at all. It was peeping at me last night when I tapped on the egg.

The success was 4 beautiful little babies, all at least part silkie. They all have 5 toes, even the one that came out of the mystery mama egg. Is five toes dominant? 3 of them have a silkie mama (white or black), 2 of those probably have a RIR daddy based on the red colors on their face (the other possible daddies are black/blue). The last one that came from the mystery egg, is gray/blue could have a blue cochin mama or a silkie mama, and could have a RIR, blue cochin or black silkie daddy. I would guess that it either has a silkie mom or silkie dad based on the five toes, but since the egg was light brown I have no idea. It's sibling that didn't make it only had 4 toes and didn't appear to have feathered toes at all. I'm really interested to see how everyone feathers out and if I can tell who the parents were. I love my barnyard babies.

Congrats on your 4 Silkie X ~ Can't wait to see what they look like as they get older.

oh - the two that have pipped - have not broken through the membrane

I had one of my silkies take 24 hours to come out. I was so worried but it finally did. It did have a problem with it's legs so I did the bandaid brace and it's doing well now. Hope it all works out and they get their little selves out so Momma Bird can rest her mind

Looks like my last egg wont hatch :( I took the other chicks out of the incubator this morning and checked that egg... really didnt see anything moving but I will leave it or another day or so. Any way.. my hatch was interesting. I am used to hatching only standard colored Silkies and this time I did a paint to paint breeding.
the colors are interesting :) One paint, one black , one white with no black skin or black legs and beak and on ??? color. The questionable colored one seems to have a leg problem. Not spraddled or curled but is walking on the hock on the one leg ?? I cant feel where there is an injury... They are close enough together. It is getting around sort of hopping... hope it improves soon.
Super Cute Babies!
