I ordered another batch of Catdance Silkies that should arrive here Wednesday or Thursday. This will be it for me for the winter though. I will have to rearrange the chicken barn for the babies as they come out of the brooders that are in the house and into the "regular" chicken area. Are we going to continue to post here or is someone going to start a new thread? Be sure and let me know if someone does!!!

Beautiful babies Kay! A bowlful of chicks! Just so precious. This is why we are addicted, right?

Oh my word I have a pip!!!! Yip, a pip!!! Day 20 (well as of 9pm tonight it will be day 20) and we have a pip. Recorded a whole string of Brooks 'chick flicks'

..... from youtube on my iphone so that I can repeat play to help the little things hatch - yaaaaayyyy!!! I'm so excited, so, so, so, so excited ... and now anxious coz when you see them pip you want them out NOW (there should be a biting nails icon on here) ... even though you know that it sometimes takes a day for them to zip and break through .....
pop.gif

The first one is a Super Blue Egg Layer ...... waiting on 3 BCM's, 3 CM's, 5 more SBEL's and 5 Olive Eggers .... sooooooooooooooo 17 eggs went into lockdown (from the start of 35) and out of all the eggs culled, only 3 were viable but had died very early on.

Ohhhh dearie meeeeee!!!! Isn't Welshchick due tomorrow as well?????

Thanks Kel - just joined you on the other thread .......... now it's my turn to bite my finger nails for this one - no need really coz it's only 'nearly' day 20 ....... I'm literally checking every 10 mins - are all yours done for this hatch??

You know what's funny, you don't know how many times I've said in the last 24 hour - I need to call Brook and then realized that I don't have your number and it's just the BYC thread - LOL - you all become so close on this thread sharing chicken fun :)!!! I ordered those thermometers - thanks for the link, it's exactly what I was looking for!!

Will update when I can get pics - the little blighter has pipped on the other side of the bator so I really cant see much of what's going on, I can just hear his chirp chirp now and again. I'm normally so 'slap happy' about incubating I wouldn't have had a problem with sticking my hands in there and turning the egg around for a photie in the past, but now I don't even touch the bator!!!!
Lockdown = LOCKDOWN!!!! LOL!!!!

Yeah that other egg didn't hatch :( my days have gone very boring now feel like something is missing I'm missing checking the incubator ;) not missing the worrying bit tho but weds is new eggs setting so won't be bored for long plus I'm just getting started in the cat breeding world I've got 2 lovely British shorthaired girls to get me started :D

yipedeeeedoooodahhhh!!!! I'm soooooooooooo excited you decided to set again! yay!!! My only advice would be to add an already calabrated mercury thermometer to your bator to double check your temps. I think you have digital readings and I've read over and over again that the mercury are more reliable. Because you had late hatches with yours, your temps may be running a little low. Just a thought
