...I guess the eggs do not have to travel as far in New Zealand - perhaps that has something to do with it? They still flew on a plane though to get here.

Yes the plane...... some ppl say thats not good but i guess they are wrong!.....Actually i bet its less bumpy than a truck when you think of it.ONlythe air pressure up high
Also may be a smaller area to ship in your country most things to or from your post office may be less in a hurry than in the US..
They are pushed in the big cities here so not gentle at ALL i have heard.Maybe yours arent so stressed?Different philosophy on work?

Out where i am small town they are more calm and less stressed to get it done so very fast.3 or 4 ppl work at each PO
Too bad they go to St Louis first.

awwrr thanks kel new but off ebay , its still bloody raining here , been talking to silverfox in london and he says that chickens shouldnt get to wet as they get sick if they get wet and cold so i put some plastic over my coops and got bloody wet myself lol . no not yet my neice is having one so until she has picked it i wont name them , hers is charlie after my old dog for some reason ??

My chickens are pamperd chickens too mine have always had a cover on there run i take it off when its not raining tho my chickens eat better than some people do mine have porridge for breakfast with raisins etc then they have a snack later mine love strawberrys and grapes

you sound like me with mine , i make extra sunday dinner so they can have some and mine love tomatoes lucky enough i have greenhouse so i grew some . i will have to get some porridge that would keep them warm in winter . thanks for the tip kel

just candled my lavender silkie eggs only have 3 and non are fertile

Almost there, we are on day 18 and excited for lock down tomorrow! Hopefully we will have chicks by Friday! Started with eight shipped Bantam Cochin eggs for my son's 4-H project. Early on he accidentally dropped one while turning them, cracked it and learned the lesson Mom had been preaching about being very, very careful.

Then we had a scare of a 104 spike, for who knows how long,

but we finally got the temps regulated. Ended up disgarding three clears, and have high hopes for the four remaining who seem to be developing well. Temps steady at 99 or 100 and humidity at 60% on the digital combo hygro-thermometer.

Then we have 48 Jumbo Brown Cornix Quail eggs that go into lock down on Friday too that I bought. It was a quick decision when a neighbor said he wanted some to raise. Oh my, it should be very interesting at our house soon!

I bet he felt awful when it happened. It is a lesson learned the hard way. If you think your nerves were shot in the beginning wait until lockdown...LOL. Your nose will be pressed to the glass constantly.
