Celtic - the sebs are moving around great (and the one little toulouse egg). I pipped the toulouse egg, after I discovered all my turkeys (due yesterday) died from shrinkwrap. He is in great shape, but his membriane had this kind of yellow water in it. I poured it off, and he's resting, wiggles a bit now and then, look very healthy otherwise.

Should I check the sebs, or leave them until tomarrow for a peek, 4 weeks after they were set. The toulouse was a total shrink wrap job. Now i'm nervous for the sebs. I see them working away, shadows in motioin on the air fringes. No internal pip though.

That yellow is from the liquid, it totally stained my washrag too. Its like water, just yellow. It poured out as soon as I pipped him.

Celtic was on 1 hr and 6 minutes ago. I guess we missed her. I know I saw she was at hatch day, then I went back and no.

Guessing I'm delusional now.

Its alive, and not in distress, so there is no need to bother her. I'm keeping him moist, the bators at 85%. It's Celtic, she'll show up when she does. I would be doing what I'm doing either way, because he doesn't seem excited to budge out, so time is ok. Thanks though. What is your take? You've been here like this a few times now.

Unfortunately, yes... Been where you are right now my with last two hatches. My main concern at your stage is membrane sticking especially to side of head. I would get the membrane off that area and along top of shell where the shell has clearly separated from the outer membrane. It is hard, but you can work a tool in between outer and inner membrane and cut outer off. Then, depending on if veins have dried up on inner membrane, I would work tip under and lift gently... Working tip side to side. Often, when it is ready, it will tear easily. Then I peel it back onto the outside of shell. I do little bits at a time, moisten, return to bator for 30-6o minutes, then continue. Does this make sense?

The yellow is fluid that wasn't lost during incubation. Draining it away is best when you have pipped and waiting to hatch the gosling.

Don't mist the baby directly as it can be aspirated and killed them.

Keep the membrane moistens, but don't cover the gosling so fresh air is allowed to get to it.

As far as the Sebbie eggs go, check them for further movement. I would externally pip them as soon as you see them internally. A tiny hold though no shell removed. This will give you time for them to rest and catch up. Sponges and humidity up and leave them be after that.

Sorry I wasn't on posting more. Taking a step back from the other thread so I don't have to bite my tongue so to speak. Too much bad advice, and misconceptions to keep up with. That and I have been accused of encouraging people to help hatch eggs that they shouldn't be.
