Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

I had a Sebbie starting to pip lastnight. This is my first time ever hatching geese. How long does it normally take for them to come out? There has been no progression since last night. Today is officially hatch day, so should I just wait? This is such a hard thing to do!!

I wanted to mention that I hope you stay on Renee' about the cayuga eggs. I had to sweet talk her last week into sending me 4 eggs that were a few days old. She was worried they would not develop since they were not super fresh, but as of the start of day 6, 3 of 4 have spiders. She said that since her hen is laying, she could send you 4 at a time or wait until the others start laying in the summer if you wanted more eggs at once. Just an FYI.

The other three are good, the one that passed probably shouldn't have been sent, was fresh out of the shell and not dry when boxed per Carole's email to me. Sent her pictures this morning of the box and gosling.

Iain we have shipped dozens of birds with no issue, even on the very late boxes. It can happen, but isn't a normal occurrence.

Vicki, don't touch it. If it just started pipping last night you won't have a gosling normally until Friday/Saturday.

We have 9 in the same situation right now. Lots of waiting going on.

That is really sad, though. I am starting to understand why buff dewlaps are rare and hard to hatch.

By the way, if I understand correctly, you create a buff dewlap by crossing a grey dewlap with an american buff? How do you make a buff utility toulouse? Is it true that if you pair a buff dewlap gander with a grey dewlap goose, you will get color sex-linked offspring?

There is a lady that has a local listing for american buff goslings... if I get more than 3 grey dewlaps to hatch, was thinking of contacting her to maybe trade her a grey dewlap for an american buff?

Rub a dub dub, 4 sebs in a tub!

Celtics babies got here and I was called just after 5:30 this morning. I dashed over to get them, and put them straight into the tub. They had a very happy 1/2 hour recovering, and then I put them in a box to dry, and now they are outside in a large unused dog run, nipping grass, and enjoy the food and water out there.

The girls were extremely delighted to find them in the tub, and are sure the little ones are supposed to be theirs. (which I think is accurate) They love how friendly they are, and the big white looking one is very bold and loves to chatter. I sat out with them, and he's a nice little lap baby. (I took the day off to watch over the babies, and be sure they are settled safely) Besides, I have a sinus infection and my tummy feels ucky and unhappy.
