I am on day 22 with my last surviving sebbie egg the air cell had not grown as much as I would have liked from dsy 18 but it has had a 4% weight loss during those days, my question is when do I move to stll air Hatcher and raise humidity? Do I wait until external pip? MI

Wait for internal pip. When you candle, you'll clearly seeing a beak shadow withen. It takes the sebbies until about day 30 to pip internally. To be honest, with my last goose hatch, I waited until external pip.

Hello everyone!

The dewlaps and Luna (Erin egg baby) are doing great. Luna is twice as big as all the others, even though she's only a day or two different in age. Shes gonna be a lunker.

Your sebs are doing real well, but one has a wing issue. Below you'll find pics of the four and our jumbo peking (thats as big as them) all hanging out in the yard today, while I was out working. The first pic is just a happy group, the second is the wing tip of the most developed gray/white sebbie. I think its just flipping out a big from the weight of the wing, but want to be sure. Do I need to do anything? The pic isn't great, but its the feathers on the wing tip on one side that are flipping outward, like they just weigh more than it wants to or can hold up yet.

That could be angel wing, over in the duck area in the stickies is how to wrap it. It's believed in geese angel wing sets on from one or a combination of too high of protien in the feed (very large contributor) and not enough grazing time outside for exercise to the wing.

It could be twisted wing tip (completely different from angel wing) and there is no treatment for it. It's common in Sebastopols and is from the feathers twisting.

From that picture though the feathers look one directional, not twisting and would have me guessing angel wing. Looks like its the splash goose who has it too.

In the middle of multiple lockdowns. Have American Buffs hatching now, some pre-ordered to ship this week. Sebbies in lockdown in the new hatcher cabinet. Loving the new cabinets, they had all of the original paperwork including purchase receipt. They hold temp and humidity much more steady than even the Brinsea does. Plus recovery after opening is super fast too. Very amazed at the quality in them. Going to search for additional trays for the incubator. May use both as hand turn incubators even though the bator has a turner.

Good morning, hatching friends. Life is grand in goosey land. My Spirit baby has almost completely self-corrected her better foot and is doing great with my other babies. I got an email from Carole this morning saying my buff dewlaps started hatching out last night and will be shipped tomorrow/Wednesday. Then I'm done with hatching/acquiring babies. Hubby is already going a little crazy trying to determine how to properly house all our birds. But God forbid I suggest getting rid of any, because he replies "Why? we have plenty of room in the pasture. Let's just put them down there."

Woke up this morning to knocking on my door. I stumbled out of bed wondering who could be at my house before 7:30am, only to discover it is my silly africans literally banging their beaks on my front door. I guess they have decided they don't want to roam the pasture and instead are on my front porch.

Hope your hatching goes great, Celtic. DG is very excited to get her buff babies!

Definately looks like the start of angel wing.
Go the feed store and get that gauze vet tape, it comes in about every color of the rainbow.

And here is a picture I found on google of how you want to put it on. I would leave it on for about a month and see if it fixes it or not.

Hi,
Glad all seems to be ok with the little ones feet, I've been awol for a while due to book reading!!
We had a visting from Mr Fox last tuesday at 4.15 in the afternoon :-0 it took off with one of our Swedish Blues (Betty) I was so upset and sorry if I upset anyone but Mr Fox's days are numbered!!!

We have 5 out of 6 goose eggs fertile and we will be 16 days in tomorrow so half way! we're very nervous but have learnt so much from the last hatch.

We put a swedish blue egg into an incubator and when I've candled it, it looks like 2 yolks are in their and both developing does this happen very often? Its like a figure of 8 with the yolks and a dark spot in the middle of both with veins coming off, not too sure of the viability of it although the egg was exceptionally big!!

Hey Hatty, glad to see you again!! Thanks for checking up on my precious little Spirit gosling. She continues to slowly improve every day. Her one foot is almost fully self-corrected! I plan to take her back to the vet (with the rest of my dewlaps) for a follow up in the next week or two, but so far things look good.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your blue (that fox's day would be numbered here too if it took out any of my birds). Very pleased to hear about your eggs developing!! Fingers crossed you will have new healthy babies in 2 weeks!! Not sure about the double yolk egg. Can you take a picture while candling it and post so we can see?
