Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Goosed, that is fantastic! Congrats!! Not sure how to calculate loss after setting. Sorry.

I have no idea when it actually pipped because I tried to leave it alone and bator closed. But, it still doesn't look like the beak in your picture. The shadowing has moved up more than it was, but the beak is not visible like that one. But since I can hear it breathing it has obviously gotten into the air sac so that's good! So now I just need to watch and wait for the external pip? Chik's issues earlier has kinda stressed me out. When does the air in the sac run out?

Thanks Celtic! Always love learning new things from you! By the way, hope I have not steered any hatchers wrong in your absence today.

It will take a good 24 hours to external pip. I think you are ok. You have your humidity high and bator has not been opened.

Well....I did open it to candle my lil fella...

But I misted with warm water before and after removing it and didn't have it out for long. I have it nestled in the bator between to wet sponges and the humidity is perfect. The heat temp dropped some and I'm not sure why. Perhaps the moisture? The drop was before I opened it obviously.

I don't think I'm gonna be able to sleep tonight. Hearing it breathing was so cool. I thought my ears were playing tricks on me like I wanted to hear it so I was just making it up in my head or something lol. But I definitely heard it! It's a faint yet very distinctive sound. I even had my hubby listen, and he heard it too.

Did I mention how EXCITED I am?!?!

Think you are excited now? As he gets closer to external pip, it will start peeping. :D

Packing peanuts or shredded paper in outer left and right long pockets.
Place peanuts or paper into each hole
Wrap egg in bubble wrap
Set into hole pointy end down
Pack shredded paper or peanuts around egg

This allows for 9 eggs to go in 1 large flat rate box safely

Yay! I would love to stop by your place this time of year! lol
Aww thanks, it's lots of fun during goose season for sure. We are a closed farm though and never allow anyone onto the fenced property. We have various points we can stand and point out birds from, but the brooder house and various pastures and yards are off limits to keep everyone healthy.
