Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

LOVE the pics, everyone!!!!!! Amazing the wrong way pipped and zipped on his own!! I've had a few external pip, but never be able to zip in that direction.

So happy all our new babies are doing well. Molasses is my favorite duckling yet!! I guess it is because he has no other hatchlings to link up to, so all he wants to do is snuggle in my hair. Strong little thing is already crying like an infant child and jumping to reach me from his post-hatching pen.

My toulouse egg is still working hard at pipping, but no clicking sounds to indicate it is completed yet. I'm not feeling concerned that it will be able to pip on its own as I see progress and movement every time I check on it. It is almost officially the start of day 29, so it is right on schedule.

I have four going to lockdown tonight. Hope I have better luck than last time. I had 3 out of 6 hatch and only two lived. The first one drowned at about day 3. It was laying with its head in the waterer. the second one died sometime today. I came home from work and it was dead. it had splayed legs and I had them taped and it was walking and doing great... then it was dead. The third.. is a whopper. it is doing realy well at two weeks old. Hopefully my luck will be better this time around. I opened the three that did not hatch and they were all fully formed and shrink wrapped. None of them even pipped.

Newduckie, welcome to the thread and I'm sorry for your losses! It hurts. Glad you have more headed to lockdown. What breed of geese are they?

Congrats on all the new babies everyone!

I got my Geese eggs today from a BYC'er and I got 8 eggs and they are resting and will be put in the incubator tomorrow.
I also have 5 African Geese eggs (Some are looking a little iffy) in the bator and 6 Bobwhite quail eggs (Candeling on Sunday and takeing out any infertile eggs for more room) in also then I have 50+ Coturnix Quail eggs coming from a BYC'er and then 6+ Grey Pied/Grey call duck eggs and I might put in some of my call ducks eggs if I can't find any broodies when they come..

Phew!

HI Steven,

Look forward to hearing about other gosling being hatched. I just set 5 Toulouse a few days back, and expect some buff dewlap eggs (and a surprise she said) tomarrow.

Hey Iain, what was your surprise egg from the nice dewlap lady whos name I can't remember? She told me there was a surprise included. Hmmmm......

Celtic- would sebastopols mind sleeping in a barn at night? The friends who've beens storing in half our barn are moving their stuff, so we're thinking about making closed (top/sides) goose inside, for bad weather days for the geese. Maybe a few different pens to keep breeds seperate for the happiness of all involved.

Got home from work today, and TWO have pipped the shell! YAY! They're both peeping strongly, and rocking away in there.

Of the other two, I think one has pipped internally, and the other is working on it. No sounds from them, but regular movement of the eggs.
