Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Adorable boy, Goosed!!

Sue & Steven... how are things going in your hatchers?

Celtic, it's very cool to see fluid baby looking all better!

Still worried about my 2nd buff baby. He looks like he is 1-2 days old instead of 4-5 days old like the other buff baby. He has very little energy/strength and needs his vet wrap hobbles to walk properly. If I focus on the progress, I can see that he holds head up higher, walks less like a drunken sailor, peeps louder, and his breathing is less labored. Last night he was even trying to preen himself and nibble on my hand. But this is the longest I have seen any baby recover from hatching.

Also, his poop has gone from the more normal looking dark green & white to a blackish color mixed with the white. On the other hand, there are little poop stains all over pen and not stuck on his butt this morning, so I do not know what to think about that.

At what point can I try to offer him food? And if I do offer food, what would be best? Mash? Greens? Scrambled yolk?

here the eggs are being goose eggs....takeing their time..... cold molasses this is the hardest part of hatching. At least we now know to stay busy. dont expect to see any progress till tonight that would be the 24 hour mark

We have goslings! Of course they started hatching while I went to Menards to get plants to decorate outside but Oh well!
I'm just happy that 2 of them are out! Then one egg that I went into yesterday because it pipped in the middle then at the top, its blood veins are starting to be absorbed. Egg number 4 has just pipped into the air cell and should be pipping the outer shell any time soon.

I getta do this all over again next month because I have call duck eggs in the incubator and they are a pain in the butt to get to hatch!

Celtic, not sure if his system is starting back up? I noticed he had a black solid stringy thing sticking out of his butt, so I gave him another washing. Afterwards, he pooped his biggest poop yet. Mostly the white sticky stuff. He got most of it out, but his butt's dirty again. I'm still giving him polyvisol/sugar water... maybe I should not try food just yet?

Steven, congrats!!!!!! Pics???

Don't forget, this many days post hatch it will need nurishment. Mashed hardboiled yolk is a gray first food
speaking of food... did you ever get the time to measure what you feed? Not hurrying you just a very very gentle reminder

My neighbor gave me a fresh chicken egg straight from nesting box. I have it on stove to boil.
