Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Box 1 - 5 pastel colored Sebastopols (blues, buffs, lilacs possible)

Box 2 - 4 buff Dewlap Toulouse goslings

Box 3 - 2 buff goslings and 2 possible splash goslings

Do you want Amerauana or Easter Eggers? We have EE's. The BCM are starting to lay regularly, so will be setting 2 plus dozen eggs over the next 30 days or so (2 batches) for fertility testing. Can set EE at the same time if you want. We have 16 French Scovy ducklings just growing out now, they are 1 week old.

Ducks and chicks ship ok together. We can box EE eggs up to send to you too if you want to hatch them. We have had some interesting colors popping out. We can easily vent the ducks and set EE with the Marans and then send all together too. Would need a box of course (they have some with inner dividers) and they could all go as one box that way. Really how ever you want them we can probably work with you. He plans to set a bath on BCM this week (near the weekend) so just let me know if you want EE set then too. Would be an end of May ship date.

I have some ameracaunas on lock down now, and BCMs go on LD today. Can I let you know for sure by friday? I may or may not need EE's depending on how the hatch goes.

I think I'll go with the duckling muscovies for sure. Maybe 2 pairs, but are they related or can I breed? I'd like 2 pairs, just to keep things healthy here.

Unrelated groups of ducklings, you only need one drake for 2 ducks with them you can go 1/7 easily on male/female ratio.

Friday is good, he won't set until Friday or Saturday so I can have him add extra EE if needed. Just let me know, chicken eggs are easy peasy after these goslings

Speaking of, had our last hatch today finall from this past weekends group. A backwards buff Pomeranian from Mrs Magoo. It's huge and full of energy though. More set for mid week and the weekend again. :) end of May won't be here soon enough. We are already running the main flock back together again, nice to see them all together for the rest of the year.

Just candled all the eggs under one mommy.....12 out of 16 ready to hatch.... and 1 more has pipped!!!!

103 female - mother Pandora - father Ricky

112 male - mother Chloe - father McGraw

Pandora and Chloe are two of our Pips&Peeps girls they are both curly, they are both visually white but both can throw colored goslings

Ricky is a curly white gander

McGraw is a curly grey gander

Will have to pull their official hatch dates off the laptop.

Erin, I get the joke, but hubby says he will never name a pet Lucky. He thought of Robin as well, since Molasses is a black cayuga. I was thinking Honey, but that would not make the best name for a gander. Ah well, hopefully a name will emerge eventually. Congrats on your new babies hatching!!!

Celtic, did I read that right? You are getting two pairs of buff dewlap toulouse babies? From where? How exciting!!!!!!!
Cute NAME!!

Celtic.......
darn it I meant to quote not reply....duh.....

Backwards.....figures....lol. Hope the little squirt stays healthy and active. I am so glad to hear that at least one of the eggs made it.

By the way, how bad were the air cells on the eggs the way I shipped them? I want to make adjustments for next season. I had a TERRIBLE time with the eggs I received being nearly scrambled this year. The original 8 Buff Pom eggs I purchased from Kawonu were severely damaged by the postal service and only two hatched (1 died and the other is large and looks like it will have good markings). I purchased a second 6 and so far all are developing nicely. While these air cells had some damage, none of them was completely detached like the first set.

Is the backwards baby the only egg that was fertile? She has laid about 6 more eggs after the ones I sent you (sporadically...1 one week then wait 6 days for the next) and only two are developing for me right now. They are still actively mating, but the reduced fertility at the end of her season has me concerned.

I took some photos of my original goslings that hatched in January. I'll have to get those loaded and post them later.

Question... will my ganders try to adopt all the goslings I hatch??

This afternoon, I took my 1 month old goslings (3 toulouse/1 african) for a walk with me over to the horse property to check on the ducks in the coop. The ganders saw the babies from a good distance away and started hustling towards us, with the african goslings in tow, making the happy coo sound. I was very surprised to see them act that way and basically jogged straight back to house with my goslings running their little butts off trying to keep up with me. I got them back to their side yard before the ganders made it all the way to horse property courtyard area where they saw us. I thought the ganders with their african babies would stay down in their safe place by the pond?? They have not even acknowledged hubby or me for the past two days.

Iain, short of the long. Yes, they could very well try and claim every new gosling you put on the property. The short fence you have for the daytime play hard won't stop them either if they get determined. They can and will fly/climb right up and over it to get to the other babies.

MrsMagoo...... We had 2 clears, 1 hatch the rest were pretty scrambled. I ended up hand turning through day 21 with them at 45* angles to steady the aircells. The backwards baby is very strong. I opened the pip 2 days ago to allow good air flow. Last night I gave it a little more of an opening. This morning I opened more and washed its face. By this afternoon it had hatched itself out. Yolk fully absorbed, straight strong legs, good head and very alert. It's in the nicu brooder for overnight and will then brood in the open air house brooder for a day or so before moving to our brooder house. As long as it remains strong by Wednesday I should be taking it outside to be with the other goslings.
