Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

I hope that no one mids too awfully much, but I need to get this off my chest. The police aressted our granddaughter's father last week finally. Our Wonderful daughter was able to get emergency leave to go get them from their step-mohter after getting an IM from her saying that she wasn't giving them back! She showed up and the step mother had taken off with the girls!! The police managed to find her and instead of arresting her and finding out where the girls were hidden, they told her she had until noon sunday to turn them over to their mother. Well, of course she did not show up!! The police located the oldest one(5) last night. The step mother hid them in two different places!!! As of nie last night they still hadn't found our youngest granddaughter(4)!!! Hopefully today the step mother will get charged with kidnapping and they will put out an AMBER alert for our sweet little one. I just can't believe this is happening!! This year is one bad thing after another. The step mother I guess does not realize that if she gets aressted for kidnapping that they will take her abay away that she gave birth to at the begining of the year! DH has no work right now, so WHEN they find her he can shoot up and go get her. She will only have to be with child services for 1 day. I can't let him go alone, I would worry too much until they got back. He would LOVE to get hold of these people for a few minutes!! As would I, but they are not worth it! I will have to work something out with our DGD and school. I will know more tonight/ tomorrow after our daughter talks to her commanding officer and her lawyer and the county attorney and the judge. Please pray for the safe return of our granddaughter!

Oh my, Monica! I will be praying for the speedy return of your DGD! Unfortunately, they probably will not issue an Amber Alert for her. I've read of numerous cases where the police haven't done so because they couldn't identify a vehicle or person with whom the child was last seen. Since that person doesn't have the kid with her, the Amber Alert couldn't point toward those kinds of clues. No, what they need to do is arrest the step-mother and toss her in jail. Whether they take her child to CPS or not, she's going to realize that it's not worth it to sit in jail and she'll turn over your DGD as fast as can be. Her attorney will make sure of that.

I realize the feelings to want to invoke revenge on these guys but I also know you realize that they're not worth it. Who would protect your DGD's? Take a breather, say a prayer, and be strong for those little girls.

My heart breaks for you. What torment you must be going through right now. I will be praying for you and your family. Please know you are on our minds, keep us posted.

My friend will be sending recipe in a couple of days. But said it was only four ingredients - Salt Paprika and Fennel seeds - he couldn't remember this last one or the measurements. They ground the fennel seeds and mixed in - I'll have to let you know the fourth.

Yes, apply the rub before pressure cooking. I have a rack that goes in the bottom of my pressure cooker - more solid with some holes in it. The ribs go on top of the rack are not sitting the 2 cups of liquid and do just fine. All the rub stays on.

Also, if the sliver skin on the back of the ribs is not removed - I would do so makes the fall off the bone process easier.

Do try this you will be converted and never go back - specially if you love fall off the bones ribs. These go great with potato salad and watermelon tops off nicely - perfect for Labor Day.

What did you put on your homemade pizza? I have a recipe for a wet dough that I make up and keep in the frig for 4 -5 weeks and have dough ready for our normal Friday Pizza night. Made goat cheese this weekend - so I'm thinking tomato, basil, red onions and some goat cheese. My stomach is growling already!

I hope you all don't mind if I slip in and visit. I've been busy with gardening and canning. I wish I was done with it, but I know I have a month and a half. Once the tomatoes are done, it will slow down.

With all of that and all the chores around this little farm, I have to admit that I haven't done much cooking. It's been too hot most days anyway.

cknmom, my heart goes out to you. I can't even imagine the pain of not knowing where my precious grandchildren are. My prayers are with you, your daughter and grandchildren. I sure hope the stepmom has a change of heart today and does the right thing.

Tonight's meal is a potluck of sorts. I took the quart and a half of spaghetti that didn't get canned, 1/2 quart of leftover tomatoes , some sliced tomatoes and put them into a Dutchoven. I added browned hamburger, sliced pepperoni, a very large chopped green pepper, a handful of dehydrated red peppers and a handful dehydrated yellow pear tomatoes. A bit of garlic and some onion powder (out of onions as I used them for all the salsa this weekend). It's been simmering and smells yummy. I'll serve it over pasta. A good meal and a big plus - I freed up some much needed room in the frig.

I am so happy you decided to "visit" I have missed you! I hope all is well. Your dinner sounds scrumptious!

I took some leftover sloppy joes from the freezer and put them to simmer in the crock pot. Add a can of corn and a green salad, that's dinner.

I am not sure whats up with me today, feeling very sluggish and just down right icky! My poor dog didn't have a good day either. He tangled with a porcupine and lost! Poor thing, had to go take a drug induced nap at the vets office. $100 later he is happy again and well rested!

Well.. we started fasting on Saturday, so I have just been making very basic food. I make enough that we can eat well in the early morning, before sunrise.. and it sustains us throughout the day.. until sunset ..and we break our fast.

Tonight, I'm frying some chicken that's been in a buttermilk bath all day ..and will make some biscuits and vegetable, etc.

cknmom.. I will keep you all in my prayers. Unfortunately, I am very familiar with your situation (thanks to my children's father and his crap, many years ago). Stay in prayer.. breathe... and stay in prayer. They will find your DGD.. they will. Don't waste your time or emotion on feeling anything for the father and stepmother.. nothing but pity, if even that. I wish you all well!

cknmom, have you considered posting this story on facebook or twitter? Stuff gets around pretty fast that way. At least everyone you know, would know to look for your grandchild!!!
Prayers for your family and the safe and speedy return of the little one!
