willkatdawson your pizza looks so yummy. It sure made me feel guilty about defrosting left overs.

Tonite is Taco Tuesday at our house. I always try to stick with something Mexican on Tuesdays. The pantry is a little bare so it looks like just tacos, nothing fancy. Oh well my family will be happy!

My DS starts High school tomorrow.

I simply can't believe it.

I'm making buns using my sourdough, we'll have sausages with peppers and onions on my home made buns.
We'll also have a salad from the garden and some sort of fresh fruit - water melon or cantelope from the garden as well.
Our meals are mostly based on the produce from the garden these days.

Any news, cknmom?

Dragonfly Ranch - Ohh! I look forward to that rub recipe. This sounds so good! The pizza I made was pretty simple - homemade dough (quick recipe - uses yeast but no pre-rising necessary), homemade sauce (leftover from spaghetti), mozz, salami, and onion. I loooove goat cheese on pizza! That sounds like a nice pie you had planned!

prairiegirl!! So good to see you! I'm glad you stopped in to say hello. Although you've been busy, it's with all good stuff. When you're all done with your preserving, we'll get to hear about all the yummy meals you make with what you did!

Do stop by and say hi when you can.

Beautiful pizza, willkatdawson!

ohiofarmgirl, FarmerDenise, and wildorchid053 - Sounds like some yummy meals happening there! I especially love the use of the garden goodies!

Aneesa's Muse - Good luck with your fast! Do you have additional food restrictions beyond eating between sunrise and sunset? If you need to wait until after supper to check in, we'll totally understand!!

thechickenchick - Best of luck to both you and your DS tomorrow! We'll be right behind you on Monday. Not only is DS starting HS, but DD is starting middle school. Let us know how it went.

Dinner tonight . . . . Rosemary, garlic, and lemon stuffed and roasted chicken, brown rice, salad with 'maters from the garden, and zukes and pattypans from the garden.

I have not heard any news as of yet. DD said she would call me last night, but didn't. She typically won't call if there is no new news or only bad. She has been emailing me though. She was going to talk to the county attorney in KY and her lawyer yesterday. I will probably hear from her tonite after she gets home from work. Facebook and twitter might be good ideas, I don't get on things like that, so I'm not sure. I will ask her if they do those and suggest it. Thank you all for your support. This last year has been terrible and being able to reach out to you all has helped greatly.

I was at a loss for dinner last night so I got on the computer and went through some of the recipes I have saved from here. I found one from chickenchick from last year. It was ground meat, onions and cheese, inside rolled out crescent rolls with cheese on top and baked. I changed it a little though. I made large biscuits(I use a 10 1/2 oz. can from salmon or chicken meat) and rolled them out to about 5-6" rounds-1/4" thick. I made mushroom gravy, put a little on one side of the rounds, put some meat mixture on it, then folded it over and sealed the edges.Actually I did one and DGD did the rest. We baked them then served them with gravy on top, instant mashed potatoes(potaoes go bad in two days during the summer up here), with gravy, of course, and green beans. It was delicious!! We were able to make six of these with 1 LB. of hamburger!! We each had 1-so I have enough for another meal! I love when I can stretch 1 lb. of meat into two meals!

shish kebob tonight.. steak marinated with italian dressing, green pepper, mushrooms, onions, with wild rice and fresh salad, with celery , lettuce, tomatos, parmesan, mushrooms, red onion and red peppers sliced

Tonight it is a chuck roast on the grill with roasted onions. It works really well to use the smaller garden onions from the harevst, by placing them on the grill whole, in their skins, roots down. When they become soft, they are done. Simply cut the root end, and squezze the onion out....simply sweet as heaven. Serve with butter.

Baked potato and grilled zucchini with Itialian dressing.

Yep, a cold brew for wash....

I am glad you were able to change it to fit your family. It sounds really delicious the way you did it!

It must be so hard to not hear any news at all. You are in my prayers. I hope you get good news soon.

It is B4D night but I am pushing it to tomorrow. I have been a little hard to live with lately so I decided to cook my DH favorite, Hungarian Goulash. Also I traded a rooster for a huge box of fresh garden corn yesterday so we are having some of that too.

DS called between school and FB to tell me his first day as a freshman went great! I can't wait until he gets home to give me a few more details. I was anxious for him all day!

BYB, middle school and high school!!

Oh you poor Mom! I think its silly that they start in the middle of the week here, but they always have.

Let us know how your Monday goes. Are you doing anything special last weekend before school starts?

Thanks for the welcome everyone - you are all so sweet.

cknmom, I've been thinking about you all day. Still praying for you.

Homemade pizza - purchased pizza doesn't compare. You are all making my hungry for it as I read about yours.

Grilled onions - YUM

Poor kids here started school Aug. 12th. Gets earlier and earlier each year. Our youngest DD started back Tuesday. She's at a different college and beginning a new program. Yesterday was her birthday and her favorite birthday meal is Sausage Biscuits and Gravy and an extra biscuit with honey. I was glad for an easy meal as I was canning all afternoon.

Tonight, might be leftovers. We'll see how the day goes. 3 year old grandson will be my helper this morning and then I have grape juice to can.

Have a good Thursday.

cknmom - I'm sorry you didn't get any news on your DGD yesterday. I'm hoping today will be the day! Keep us informed.

wildorchid053 - Sounds delicious! I haven't made those in ages, so thanks for bringing them up. I think the kids would love them!

Your onion technique sounds wonderful, bigzio! I'll have to try that. I don't have enough room to grow onions at home but we grew some in the church garden and they were awesome! IMO, anything washed down with a cold brew is a good thing!

thechickenchick - I'm glad to hear that DS was enjoying his first day of HS. Did he fill you in on the details? I actually like the way your son's school does it as far as starting in the middle of the week. I think it's easier after a long summer break to come back to only 2 or 3 days than to a whole week. This is the first year my kids will have started on a Monday. We aren't doing anything special over the weekend. DS is having a friend spend the night tonight and DD is spending the night at a friend's house. Tomorrow, DH will take all 4 kids to the beach while I stay home and make soap and get some work done. If I don't get a jump on it tomorrow, I'll be waaaaay behind!

prairiegirl - Happy birthday to your DD! You even can grape juice?! Wow!

How is the fast going, Aneesa's Muse? I'd love to hear about the goodies you're having to break your fast each day.

Surprise! There was NO B4D last night! DD had a back to school party to attend so entirety of B4D consisted of some raisin English muffins sometime in the afternoon. Other than some melon, I didn't eat anything at DD's party but did enjoy some crackers, cheese, and wine when I got home. Does that count as supper?

I'm not sure what is on the menu for tonight. DS needs to let me know what he and his buddy would like to eat tonight.
