Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

skand - I don't know about featherbeds, but I make cinnamon rolls with an overnight rise in the fridge. I let them come to room temp about an hour before baking. Maybe the dough needs to warm up.

I had forgotten to cover the top with melted butter, just flipped it like normal breads call to do, so it developed a skin on it. Poor Jim ate 4 of them before he remembered I said to go spoil the birds! He said you could tell they were supposed to be good.

I made breakfast for dinner. Got another bucket of eggs in my fridge! I mean a gallon sized bucket-full lol

skand - Wow ... lots of eggs! After sharing with family and friends, I donate eggs to my church's food bank. With so many families out of work, I hope I can help prevent at least one family sending their kids to bed hungry. I have a little area of garden set aside this spring to donate fresh veggies.

That is a wonderful thing, happyhen!

I am involved in a cooperative garden project through our church. We donate to a local homeless shelter for women and their children. The shelter is always THRILLED to provide their guests with fresh veggies rather than canned. I encourage anyone who gardens to check into that option locally. In these difficult times, the food banks and homeless shelters are struggling more than ever.

Some people "plant a row for the needy" so that's something to consider this season as you're perusing the garden catalogs and planning for your season.

I didn't do much cooking tonight. This morning we had happyhen's Starbuck's coffee cake along with eggs our girls laid (I'm so glad they're laying again!). I didn't eat lunch but just had some frozen food for dinner because I needed to meet up with some of the gals before church to wrap some of the rose scented soap we made to benefit the garden. Good thing there were goodies during wine and cheese hour after church. I was running all day that I never had time to think about cooking. Tomorrow won't be much better, I'm afraid.

While I'd love to take credit for the Starbuck's coffee cake ... it's out of this world ... the credit goes to cknmom.

I felt lazy and a bit "off" today, so it was tuna salad sandwiches and veggie sticks.

DH is sick ...again! I'm catching it, too ...and my Chinchilla kids are at risk of anything respiratory, so ...uhh.. yeah! Lots of fun going on here...

I have leftovers from last night's meal ..and the Meyer lemon sauce was delicious! I stirfried the leftover rice and added some stuff with prawns ..for a snack. And I have "real" hominy cooking in my crockpot ..for the Posole... cuz canned stuff has wayyy too many preservatives for me to safely consume.

And I found broken egg shell in my coop/nest area today ..so someone is eating eggs ....and we will likely have 3 fresh chickens in the freezer very very soon. I am terribly disappointed ..and a little ill to my stomach ..because of it

Ahh nothing beats a fresh roasted chicken.
We're thinking of quail either tomarrow or Tuesday. Corn chowdah for the night we dont do quail. lol
Tonight, crock potted pork ribs with bbq sauce and boiled taters.
50+ mph winds today, being gentle with my windyheadache. lol

I'm sorry to hear that happyhen and Aneesa's Muse aren't feeling well. Hugs to you both!

I spent the afternoon at the church making some soap. Hubby is making dinner tonight - Chicago Dogs and fries.

I made Yakisoba noodles with cabbage, peppers, onion, carrots and sesame seeds.... It was good but a little salty...now I have a headache... ugh.... lol
