Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

When you get ready to plan any garden in a new or a old area don't forget to use your local extenion office. They can get you tons of information and even hook you up with some locals who would be willing to help you.

Tonight is a beef/pork combination roast on garlic toasted buns, with carrots. My son is in heaven he is sick of toast and eggs or sandwiches as I have been too sore and tired to cook the last few weeks.

Bean soup sounds very good...it's rainy and windy here today too...

I am lacking in motivation. I think we are just having chicken sandwiches and a salad...if I get really rowdy I'll make mac and cheese

Zookeeper - Thank you. That's good advice!

Last year, I visited their test plots - just 2 miles from my house - and saw a lot of wine grapes, peanuts, and pecan trees. All of that looked like a lot of work, so I decided to plant alfalfa - just like my neighbors.

Next trip, I'll have to pay more attention to the "kitchen" crops.

Swiss chicken casserole.
Chicken breasts, broccoli, cream of chicken soup, milk, swiss cheese, stuffing mix, butter.
First time making this, hope it's good or I will be ordering pizza!

Trying a jambalaya casserole recipe I found. It has been snowing all day again. I shoveld this morning around 11 and you can't tell that I did. DGD and I wanted sausage and mushroom stew, DH over-ruled us. I'll make the stew this weekend.

thechickenchick - for caesar dressing I use 2 eggs, 2 TBSP lemon juice, 6 TBSP extra virgin olive oil, 2 TBSP minced anchovies, a dash of Worcestershire and salt and pepper to taste. Beat eggs, beat in lemon juice, slowly beat in olive oil. Stir in anchovies, Worcestershire, salt and pepper. You can do this in a blender or food processor. If you worry about salmonella from raw eggs, pasteurize them in boiling water 60 to 90 seconds. Rub you salad bowl with a halved garlic clove.

Zookeeper - I'm glad you're finally on the mend. You've had a real rough spell.

BB - bean soup does sound good, especially on a rainy, windy day.

Redfeathers - chicken sandwiches and salad sounds good ... a little more "upscale" than the tuna sandwiches and veggie sticks we had last night! lol

menageriemama - I hate when I get stuck in the "kitchen rut". Good thing your kids don't mind. I'm sure you'll break out soon.

beau coop - welcome! Reading your casserole recipe makes me think you won't need to order pizza. It sounds yummy.

We're experiencing our mid-winter thaw (45 and sunny today) so I chose something "spring like" ... chicken Veronique (sauteed chicken breast, tarragon, green grapes with a white wine and cream sauce) served with rice pilaf, steamed green beans from last year,s garden and fresh baked country French bread (made with a cup of wheat flour mixed to replace a cup of white).

happyhen, you have way better sounding meals then me, can I come be your lackey, study under your cookbooks? lol
We're having english muffin pizzas tonite. I'm pairing mine with a side of chilli-cheese fritos!
