Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Quote: When I was first married, I brought a pumpkin pie to thanksgiving dinner with the in-laws. My mother-in-law took a look at it, said,'Whats wrong with it?" and threw it out.

crust is my issue. If I had a freezer full of the store bought ones there would be more quiches in this house. They are still just pricey for us.

I've never mastered the pie crust, either. We just eat crustless quiche, or use bacon as a base. When the boys were little I called it breakfast pie, so they'd eat it better. Now, not at all worried about them eating well.....

I also go more with crisps and cobblers. We just don't care for pie. I'll make some of the pumpkin custard and we'll just eat that. Works for us!

And low heat is SO IMPORTANT with older birds, which is why smoking them is so good. Takes forever, but it is worth it.

@3goodeggs second what @donrae said. Do the pie or quiche just without a crust. I often do that since one of my kids has celiac (so no gluten). I really like the quiche with no crust.

(by the way

that you were so badly treated over your first pumpkin pie. That was a horrid way for someone to treat you. )

Eh, she out grew it. I think when we are young we think people that are older than us have to be more mature than us. That is just not the way of things.

It was an ugly pie.
I can give her that.
