Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

I am soooo loving this rain right now! It has been nice and steady and much needed. I hope you get some snow tonight cknmom!

FarmerDenise :

This would be a good night for a nice cuppa tea with a little "something" in it. My mother used to call it tea with "oops"

OK FarmerDenise, I'm sitting here with my cup of tea but there's nothing added.

What sorts of "oops" do you add to tea?

happyhen - I've never tried a Red Velvet cake. What makes it special? Maybe we can have a party with your cake and FarmerDenise's tea.

Annesa's Muse - ANYthing from Trader Joe's is tops in my book. I really feel for those of you who don't have one nearby. If I ever move from here, a TJs nearby will be a requirement for anywhere I might move.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, thechickenchick!

I don't yet know what we're having tonight. DD wants Chinese take-out. I just may have to go along with that.

Our 'snow' is still melting on landing! I just need to move somewhere that gets more snow!! I grew up (in very early years) in maine and denver. I LOVE WINTER WEATHER!! I have been in so. CA since '67', it took me until dec. 2005 to move to where it snows in CA.

I saw red velvet cake two years ago for the first time. I have several recipes for it though. I actually don't eat cake very often. I LOVE to make and decorate them though! I only like spicy type and veggie/fruit type (I think DGD is making my favorite spice cake for my B-DAY this month though!)

Everyone at the occassion of the red velvet cake LOVED it!!

I just got all the groceries unloaded...I spent a bazillion dollars and still forgot stuff I need.

I'm keeping it simple, hamburger patties, saute'd onions on top and a side of french fries...maybe some gravy to cover both. I do love french fries with gravy and pepper...lol. Oh...a veggie too of course...just to keep it healthy.

BB - red velvet cake is a somewhat sweet, lightly chocolate flavored cake made with buttermilk for a tender and moist crumb. It's red from food coloring. Cream cheese frosting topped ours last night and it would have been perfect with a cup of FarmerDenise's tea!

After yesterday's bake-a-thon (and extra time on the treadmill this morning) it's time to lighten things up.

Crab cakes with a roasted red pepper aioli and a tossed salad .... and probably another sliver of cake.

Aneesa - I'm glad your dinner met with approval. It sounded delicious.

cknmom - I'm willing to send you some of our snow. We're running out of places to pile it.

I have never made red velvet cake, but it sounds fantastic. Now that I am feeling better I am craving cake for some reason!

DS is gone for the weekend and DH will be home late. So supper will be nachos.

Going with a variation of a chicken pot pie. Might end up making Jim gimme money and go get something if this turns out uneatable!
