Hey Grandpa, What's for Supper? Part 2

Thank you guys for remembering. That's so sweet!
His graduation was last night. I can't believe he's going to be in HS next year! I mean, I can but I can't, ya know? He was so proud. After they had finished walking back down the aisle, I went back to gather up a group of kids for photos. He ran up and hugged me.

And here I was trying to be the cool mom and not fawn all over him in front of his friends.

Tonight - To celebrate the end of the school year, we're taking the kids out to a nice Chinese restaurant that they love.

Stopped by today to get ideas for the weekly menu, as always there are many good ideas. I really do intend on participating in this thread, for some reason I never do.

This weeks menu:

Sunday will be tacos - sides mexican rice, beans and salad

Monday - grilled pork chops and pasta with a tomato/onion type of sauce on top

Tuesday - personal beef pot pies with fresh green beans and carrots

Wednesday - Our anniversary - hubby's favorite chicken parm with a huge italian salad

Thursday - cajun red beans and rice with sausage and fresh okra!!!

Friday - Pork ribs on the grill with jalapeno pinto beans and whatever other sides (I can't decide right this minute)

I want to thank you all for the great dinner ideas. Oh, and I love breakfast for dinner, but hubby thinks it's weird

. Some times when he works late I make whatevers on the menu for him to heat up later, and then it's bfd for me!!!

Last night I tried the meat ball recipe Kim shared. It was wonderful!! I served them over rice because that was all I had. DS had a friend stay and he loved it too. So thank you! This will be a staple in our house. We always have deer burger to use up.

Tonight I think will be pork chops and the rest of the pasta salad from a few days ago, or maybe just a lettuce salad. Not sure yet. We finally got a summer like day. Its 80

!! So I am a little to hot to think about cooking.

Happy Saturday everyone!

SO made halibut and rice for dinner last night. We have plenty of both left over, so I'm making fried rice using both. I don't know what we'll have as a side dish yet. Maybe a salad, the greens in the garden are finally big enough to eat.
I haven't been here for a while. Just been too busy keeping up in the garden and the house to go online. I'm job hunting too. So I spend my time writing up resumes and stuff, yuck.
I made dolma this week. They came out ok. Next time I'll use less water and use lemon juice for some of the flavoring rather than lemon slices. They came out a little bitter and soggy. I still like them. SO isn't fond of "strange" foods. If his mother didn't serve it, it is "strange" probably "poisonous"

Funny, I was married to one of those once.... He has been single and cooking for himself ever since (10 years!) My DH loves my cooking, or so he says, maybe he just doesn't want to end up cooking for himself like the last one....

What a fun thread!! I'm still nosing around this cool site and finding new stuff.
Breakfast was so yummy and aromatic I could still smell it when I got back home from running around til noon. Super sweet noonday onions sliced paper thin and carmelized (with minced garlic of course) and pushed to the edge of the skillet in a ring, then a lovely egg from the lovely Pearl dropped in the center and fried up, then served up together on a plate. Just onions and eggs with garlic, salt and pepper.
Supper was fresh ears of corn with taters'n'onions...

PeggySue we are so glad you joined us here. There is always room for another cook with yummy ideas. Your breakfast sounds wonderful. If I have time in the morning I am going to do that.

I decided on fried potatoes to go with the Pork Chops. However DH is late tonight so I might just end up eating cereal!!

Thanks, I love to cook, indoors or out, love baking in my gas grill on the patio, that's been a lot of fun.
Been working on a picnic this evening, won't have time when I get off work tomorrow....going to a concert in the Botanic Gardens tomorrow evening with friends and I LOVE packing my red picnic basket.
The best cracker spread ever is cream cheese, sour cream mixed with chopped candied jalapenos.....the stuff makes ya groan with every bite.
Made some of that and tossed some straw/blue berries and fresh pineapple with poppyseed dressing......and a pitcher of iced tea with peppermint from my garden.....we just sit there grazing and listen to great music!!
